cel throwing a misfire how to fix???
ok 1998 integra throwing a cylinder misfire on the check engine light. i already changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap rotors and its still not fixed. anyone know how i can get this fixed? (ecu was reset after these new installs and it went away but came back after like 150 miles)
if all else fails...check the dizzy internals (forgot the name) and the timing belt pulley drive..check the teeth..as i had one missing once..
did the trick that trick the ecu splices to pairs of wires at the ecu plug.
Here you go...

when i replaced the plugs they were fine. i guess ima have to do a compression test. i would figure nothing is wrong with the motor since its an automatic and not driven very hard at all

all this **** about distributor and compression test is a waste of your time
compression issues are almost impossible to cause a misfire
internal ditributor issues (coil, module) will affect more than 1 cylinder
get some good injector cleaner....or if you really want to be smart pay for a full injector flush/cleansing...that's where you should be focusing your efforts

You should also make mention of the content of your other thread as I believe it is relevant, i.e. the shaking at idle. This points to the engine running on limited cylinders.
When you did all the work are you positive you replaced everything correctly? e.g spark plug leads to the dizzy in the correct order? Im sure you did but just checking as a part time mechanic friend of mine transposed 2 leads cos he didnt have them in the correct order...

Good point...
Also reminds me to get the injectors cleaned or replaced, as my motors shakes a tad.

I just had this problem too.
Most Likely its your injectors. you said you dont run your car hard, youve probably built up alot of carbon in your engine.
Anyways, run some seafoam through the brake booster line into your Intake Manifold, follow the instructions on the seafoam site, I used about 1/2 a can. I got rid of the code and it runs way better now too.
the brake booster line is risky but it is also the best option. Its cheap and it works. Just remember to let it suck up the seafoam slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly.

Could be just wires to the injectors too. squeeze and shake the wires around the injectors when the engines running and see if you can make it misfire. It happened with my 98 CR-V.
