another surging idle ???
Ok well I went back to a stock intake manifold and now I have a damn surging idle. I've put 2 different iacv on it but still the same. Also cleaned them out. Idle goes from 1K to 2K back and forth. No check engine lights either. I've sprayed all around the manifold to look for vacuum leaks and "burped" the coolant system several times. Now when I unplug the map sensor it goes down to about 1500 rpm and sits there but throws a CEL then. This thing is driving me crazy. Please help!!!

you need to tighten the fast idle temp valve. to check for this is the prob. pull off the intake boot and put your finger over the lower hole in the throtle body your idle should smooth out. the FITV is located on the bottom of the throttle body w/2 coolant lines runing through it.
you may have cracked a hose that is causing a small vaccum leak. grab some pliers and do the pinch test on every hose. thats a good place to start before you go and take everything back off
OK thanksI'll mess with it again tonight hopefully. Like I said when I plug the hole in the throttle body going to the iacv it smooths out so I really didn't think it was a vacuum leak. Also it's not the cruise control nipple either as this manifold doesn't have one on it.
it could possibly be your wiring to your IACV. I would need a wiring diagram, but if it is shorted to ground then it could possibly always be open. Get a wiring diagram and a dmm out and start checking.

OK well I messed with it again today. Still doing the same thing. I bleed the coolant again. I don't think it can be a vacuum leak though since when I plug the hole in the throttle body going to the iacv the idle settles down and sits at about 1k. If I had a vacuum leak then it would still be sucking air from the vacuum leak when i do this right??
This is driving me crazy. I'm about ready to just pull the head and intake manifold and finally do my minime I've been wanting to do.

you should look into the map sensor.. when you unplug the map sensor, the car should die..
