Default Book Needed:Design Techniques for Engine Manifolds

Design Techniques for Engine Manifolds: Wave Action Methods for Ic Engines

D.E Winterbone

i cant seem to find this anywhere recently.
I was wondering if anyone had a copy, and if so, would you trade it for my Race Car Vehicle Dynamics book my Milliken or sell it to me. Mine is brand new.

thank you.

For some reason the isbn-10 numbers must be reveresed on these two. I have the 364 pg one and its the isbn for the one with 512 pages listed?

is one of these books a modernized edition of the other? Or are both books different in literature.

Im thinking of buying it also. So, someone that has this...can you tell me what the book contains? pictorial's, cad drawings, formulas for lengths, bends, stuff like that.
does anyone have the theory book...what does it have in it etc.

I don't own the book, but am currently reading it. I am studying mechanical engineering and am borrowing it from my university library. It is listed on amazon.co.uk as others have noted. FYI this book was published by SAE and Wiley; so it has two different ISBN numbers depending on who printed it. (wiley 186058179X)

As far as the content, for the person that asked. This book is like the Bible of engine manifold analysis. This book would be the New Testament and "The Thermodynamics and Gas Dynamics of Internal Combustion Engines" would be the Old Testament. Like the scriptures, this book also requires a level of dedication to read.

I am not sure of your background but the book is not exactly a "Honda Builders Handbook" type of book. To fully utilize the contents of the book you should probably have a background in basic thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and have been introduced to the differential forms of mass, momentum, and energy equations (like BSL's Transport Phenomena). A large part of the book is dedicated to the modeling (computer simulation) of intake manifolds (as was Benson's work). This is done by simplifying the aforementioned equations and making assumptions. If you have a back ground in mechanical engineering (or the like) you will probably enjoy the book, if not it can still be a informative and entertaining book, but you could probably find a lot of the information else where in an easier to understand format.

I managed to get a second hand copy on ebay for £50.
I have heard of another book on manifold design, I don't know the title but the Authors name was Evans. Anybody read this? Any good?
