i have a 1991 hatch dx
it is DPFI!!!
i wanna swap to B-series,
it looks complicating to do wiring harness
Is it easier to Go D-serieS d16z6 Vtec will all the harnessing be easier?? *OR will i be going DPFi or do i have to go MPFi
what is a good swap for DPFI??

You can actually run any single cam motor (D16Z6 included) with DPFI. And the car WILL get you from point A to point B. But you SERIOUSLY limit the output of the motor if you do so. Changing to MPFI is a DEFINITE requirement to realize the full potential of ANY motor you drop in there.

agreed much faster and sounds a little bit better also

Coincedentally, I will be doing some "research" with a guy I know.
I'm stock DPFI, and he's stock with MPFI conversion. On Sunday, we plan on doing "testing" with the cars: We're going to check out MPGs and acceleration.
They are both relatively stock cars. More info to come...

Cool, we swapped a buddy of mine dpfi to multi and went auto to 5 speed (dx) and that car was peppy, i was really surprised. I think he gets upper 30 mpg too.

NICE! I'm sure the auto to 5spd helped with BOTH peppy and MPG. My DX is pretty peppy. Fun, especially for what it is. Don't get me wrong, it's not as fun as my B16 CRX! I'm averaging 32 MPG city, while currently between 38-40 HWY. I'm doing 45 miles one way to work right now.
I will probably start a thread on the whole DX and DPFI thing. To see if any of the mods i do help or not.

I agree. 30s isn't bad though! And we're probably off topic now!
I will see about starting the new thread on Sunday, after our testing

your going to need to do a MPFI conversion
heres a great writeup for it

The wiring isn't too bad, its just time consuming to triple-check everything, get all the right plugs, and make it look OEM. I converted my original sedan from dpfi to obd1 d16z6 turbo, and it was a WORLD of difference. I took a d16z6 harness and merged it with the dpfi harness to make it all work & look stock. I went from loosing to saturns to beating WRX's.
I'm doing it all over this week to my auto dpfi d15 sedan, except I'm putting a Z6 intake onto the D15 head/block. Its just time consuming, but definately worth ever second.
FYI an obd1 B-series will be 95-100% compatable with an obd1 D-series harness, assuming your not going from non-vtec to vtec (or vice versa).

Interestingly, I find that the DPFI harness is MORE compatible with an OBDI swap than the MPFI harness. True, it lacks wiring for two injectors. But the ROUTING of the wiring is MUCH more similar. And I guess it is really only missing ONE wire vs a MPFI harness. For whatever reason, few people think to make use of the orange wire for the tandem valve control solenoid. But it can be used either for an injector OR for the heater control on the oxygen sensor. And when it comes to running that extra wire, I would MUCH rather do this than have to reroute the wiring on an MPFI harness to make it look clean on an OBDI motor.
