OEM oil filter - same as Civics?
From 1986 until recently, all Hondas used the same filter, with the exception of the S2000. 1985 and older Hondas had a different filter. Recently, Honda began using a different filter depending on the engine.
But essentially, any Honda/Acura between 1986 to somewhere between 2004 and 2006 (maybe even more recent) uses the same filter.
The S2000 filter is widely considered a "better" filter than the standard Honda/Acura filter and can be used as well on Civics, Integras, Accords, etc.

I've heard a couple people say something about a slight pressure drop, but I've yet to see anything to prove it. They weren't speaking from experience either, just hearsay. Many people have been using them for years without problems. If there is a pressure drop, it's probably a negligible amount.
But yes, the benefits is supposed to be better filtration (as compared to the standard Honda/Acura filter).

Let me share a horror story on my last oil change on my 96 EX 6 cyl. It has never happened to me before in my 30 years carear of changing oil.
After the oil change, I started the car and proceed to back it out of the garage to my driveway. I heard a weird noice from the front. I immediately shut the engine off. Got out of the car and saw my driveway full of oil all over the place.
As it turn out, the old gasket from the old filter got loose and stuck on the car. Hence, the new filter just sit on both new and old (double) gaskets. Oil just flew out of the engine at record pace.
The moral of the story, check the place where the oil filter will go and make sure no old gasket is there. 2 seconds, that's all it takes.
I had to spend 2 hours cleaning the driveway with engine cleaner and all of my old rags.

Prior to mid 80s- the filter looks identical to the S2K filter, its huge. the filter is about the same size of the big fram filters that you buy at any store when you look up Accord or Prelude filter.
after mid 80s and up- the regular filter is being used even till now
insight - they used to use a smaller filter about a 1/4 smaller than the regular filter, but after some R&D Honda decided to discontinue the insight filter and told everyone to just use the regular filter
S2K - when the S2K first came out they used the regular filter but within a year they came out with a filter specific for the S2K, a much bigger filter that was design for it. I dont know what the deal it but maybe it has something to do with controlling oil pressure.
Honda OEM filters have really good gaskets, they DONT dry or shrink super fast like frame filter gaskets and similar style filters. Their filtration material is top of the line, similar to that of the K&N filters.
