Default On Budget: Exhaust or Header First??

I'm on a limited budget, but I'm slowly putting money into my 91 CRX. Should I get a catback exhaust or header first? Thanks

6 in one hand / half a dozen in the other.

it just depends on you and your budget. if it were me, id buy the more expensive part first. that way its easier to come up with the money for the cheaper part later down the road.

neither.

Save for something that will give you more than 5 hp.

Guessing you still have the d16a6 in there? IMO do a swap or hit up forced induction if you want some speed.

exhaust is expensive for the little gains it gives you, plus the annoying sound.

speed should not always be your first worry when building your engine. you can have a engine that you put a bunch of crap on but if it cant breath properly than you cant make it fast.
exhaust and headers may not make it fast
but they make a big difference all around.
and you need both to do anything drastic so it doesnt matter

It would be better to do the header first because it's the first thing the exhaust is going to hit, and if you have catback, the stock header will still be bottlenecking the rest of the setup (making the catback not much of gain), where as if you have a header, flow will be increased up until the stock exhaust... everyone is right though, you need both (well, the full I/H/E) for best results, but even I felt the difference a header + testpipe alone made on my slow D15B2

If your on a buget hit up ebay for a cheap header and if you have access to a welder buy some pipe and bends and make your own exhaust.

Ok I'm going to get a header first.
Global688 are those eBay headers okay?
I was going to make an exhaust, but i can get a stainless catback cheaper than buying the tubing myself..

A ebay header is still going to be better than the stock manifold IMO.
