$20,000 torn in half
hey guys. i apologize for the lack of tech ahead of time but i have a question thats just been bothering me and i just need some input from other SENSIBLE PEOPLE. dont just post to be stupid please. but recently i have been having a few minor problems with my ls and my dad has never been fond of the acura/honda's that ive driven because his father was a worker at GM. well he saw that i was having problems and made me a deal. the deal was i ditch that car and put up with a car that he buys. and he promised it would be an alright car. well it turns out its an 07 hyundai sonata. i cannot complain. its very nice and quiet on the inside. i can get it nice and toasty warm on the inside of the car get out, go to the gym for about an hour, get back in my car and its still warm. it sits on 17's stock and its a dark blue with 45% tints. its actually pretty phat looking and its new. so i cant complain. well just recently i came across 20,000 dollars and i just have a need for another acura/honda. it will be my summer DD/fun car. i really dont care if it has an interior or if its nice. but the thoughts of what i want vary widely. the cars ive considered are:
EG
DC5
DC 2/4
EK
S2000
as far as which car i buy i dont know if i want to swap, go turbo, do tasteful mods or what. its just one of those things where i have money and i just dont know what to do with it and im looking for suggestions. so any input would be great. thanks

lol i knoew someone would say something like that...but my thought is that if i get an eg i can build it up for pretty cheap if i start with a shell/ i had a 94 lx 4 door before and i liked it but the interior was alittle old after i bought the integra, so thats when i thought oh hey, maybe an ek would be better, its good to change it up a little bit. plus the insurance is cheap. problem with dc5 and s2000 they are nice new cars but DAMN insurance is killer and i cant really mod them after spending so much on the initial buy and registration and insurance over time...so this is why im pretty much asking what would you do with 20 grand?

The '05-'06 RSX Type-S gets my vote. It's a very smooth driving car, excellent shifting, great stereo, much better ratio (4.7 final drive), and luxurious like the s2000. The only thing that ticks me off about the Type-S is the suspension/handling and size of the car (tall, portly). It's the only complaint I have about the car.
This has been my experience while riding/driving my brother's '05 RSX Type-S.

The '02-'04 models have a 4.4 final drive while the '05-'06 have a 4.7 final drive. I believe it also has Type-R cams and other more things, but I'm not quite sure. Visit the Acura RSX DC5 forum or search for more information.

What would I do with 20K... Easy, I would buy a clean and minty PY Type-R.
If only I had that kind of money. Ahh, It's okay though, I have patience, I can wait.

if i had 20k i wood buy an integra shell and put a k20a-type s(rsx-s)engine in it cost about 6k give or take the rest of the money you canfix up the appereance if you want...after that ill b alll set for a few months until i wanna hook it up more.... Go with a 94-97 integra shelll its lighter...
i wasn't gonna post, cause people seem to like to flame on things i say. but VTEC_PRODUCTION i seen you offer some +good knowledge to me and others in the past. So this is what i think.
tbh. idk how your financial situations are, but i would buy a cheap *** DC2, and just have fun in it. Put the rest away for another time. I really regret getting into cars and putting SO MUCH money into it, but it's fun.
If your good for money and don't really need to even put anything away, i would just ball out and get something like a dc4/5 or s2k. That's my imo. Keep em stock and beat them while making sure to follow all the guidelines to driving safe and not getting in an accident
goodluck, fill us in on your decision.

my initial thought is go cheap, say EG, and build a monster
but then again you have the ability to buy a brand new car... i would look at those extremes- what you want from it.

More power than any streetable tire can handle....probably middle 400s with ease. It depends on a couple factors, but if you were to get a methanol injection setup, you'd be able to hit upper 400s on 93.

--- I was reading on some threads, and on jeff evans site. They said you need like 1600cc injectors to run it properly. You know if that is true? I plan on running this once my new project car in complete.
EDIT: i guess i shoulda took this to a PM, sorry vtec pro(op)

If it were up to me I would definately buy a dc2 and do some sort of build up that was just the way I wanted the car. You'd have plenty of modification money and could easily build a high horsepower forced induction car or you could make an all motor beast with ITBs and tons of compression. Either way, pic a car that you really like and make it even better. You could buy an RSX or S2k but think about where that leaves you with money for modifications in the end...
I say dc2.
Youll have enough money left over to improve the entire suspension, a k series swap with turbo, add soundeadning to the car, improve audio, jdm front if ur into that, new paint job any color u want...
and the dc2s still look like decent cars even in their old age.
s2k will take ur whole bundle of cash
dc5 is an option if its differences from the dc2 is worth the extra cash to you. Youll probably have enough left for a turbo kit.
