just got my civic
Hey Guys,
I just bought my 4 door SI and I love it! I'm going to start modding the car after it has been broken in, sucks have to keep my revs under 4k lol. So i have a few questions for you guys. First things i was going to get to get done on the car was Intake Exhaust Headers And ECU. I'm having trouble finding an exhaust that looks close to stock but still makes good power and decent sound. I was thinking LegalSpeedDesign or buying the HFP muffler from honda and just going to a local shop and getting complete 2.5inch piping (dont want any restrictions). Is this a good idea? Also Need help on picking out headers. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Alvin,

If you want to make a custom stainless exhaust, the Vibrant ES Oval looks a lot like a stock muffler, but it's a straight through design, you'd probably be happy with that.
APEXI WS is your best bet..IMO.
I have one on my 07 coupe its sounds a little deeper than stock and is close in looks to OEM...

I have the LSD on my 4dr si. power gain is noticeable it is a little loud for my taste but I can deal with it.(not a bad loud) LSD claims 13.5 hp I feel that's true. I do have a heat shield gasket, injen CAI and throttle body spacer. this could also be why I noticed a significant gain in HP. it comes down to how in tune your are with your car. good luck

Damn that seems like alot to me from a catback.

I said the same thing!!! but was willing take a chance, glad I did im happy with LSD's results. I plan on a dyno in the spring when I get the re flash. I wish I could afford to dyno for every step but that just not practical. I do believe the car that LSD used for beta testing had the re flash, not sure!

Did you put the exhaust on at the same time as your other mods? If so that would explain why you would feel such a noticeable difference in power. Not just the exhaust by itself....but rather a combination of all the mods together.
That's a pretty steep claim for LSD to make. Do they have any dyno charts to prove that claim?

Lost power WITH an exhaust or without. I most definitely did not lose power with the RH and stock exhaust. That I can guarantee. If so I would have lost to all of the 4 06+ Si cars I have raced.

they are a small companie. and not that old I would think that they have something to prove if they want to make it with the big boys. to lie would be death for the newbie companie. JMO! oh 13.5 lets not blow it up yet. LOL

greg50lt here on HT lives in my hood and has a typhoon. I drove his si and he has driven mine with the injen CAI. we both agree that my car may be little bit quicker thu the rev's. when we just had intakes. I have done some more work since then and I believe he has done the same. as far as the HFP goes there is no gain just sound so I would save the money for a future exhaust set up. greg50lt has a 2door mine in a 4.. pullies and light flywheel at the same time IMO. good luck

3 at the track 1 on the streets. I know what you're thinking. I'M NOT THE RACE POLICE and I didn't mean anything personal about my post....it's just that twisty roads with cliffside falloffs (if that's what your area had...if not..cool) is not my particular brand of vodka.
Best time was a 14.61 @ 96.38. Stock time was 15.0@ 91mph. So the RH makes a pretty significant difference. Especially in the trap speed.
My friend from work makes 202WHP on his Mazdaspeed Protege at 10psi w/ front-mount intercooler and a couple other goodies on a car that weighs less than the Si. When we ran our cars we were dead even from 60-100mph. I lost by less than 1/2 car length.

HFP is just an axleback (Muffler) there isnt a whole exhaust. Its just a little louder/deeper. Its not worth the $300. IMO means "in my opinion"

Do does my Tanabe Medalion Touring, but its expensive.
My "guy" suggested that the first performance mods should be a CAI (cold air intake) then a catback. Makes sense to me. Breath in, breath out.
works just fine for me

before you buy an injen CAI check out what Xintake is doing here on HT. he has gotten some good #'s out of his set up. I think you can get more info on 8th gen civic forum.

But it seems that hes backed up on his orders and has a few upset customers.
