Default FAL fans and turbo?

Is anyone using this fan setup on their car?....using a full-length aluminum radiator. Just want to see if it will be able to clear the turbo....I'll be doing some road racing soon and my only real concern is overheating.

I seriously doubt it. I have a small 19t on a log mani and it barely clears the Fluidyne radiator without the fan on it. Maybe a ram mani would fit better. Most people just use the 1/2 size radiator for high HP, not too sure for track.

I could probably make it fit by changing my setup....I think If i was using a half sized radiator, I would have over heating problems

It really depends on your setup. You'd probably be limited to a log manifold though. I know that my SLS shorty will clear a full length radiator on a DC chassis, but i'm not sure if it'd accomodate a fan as well...PM PSI2HI if you want to check on that more. The SLS shorty is a great manifold and would work great for a road race setup

I have a shorty manifold on my GSR and was able to retain the AC as well as adding 1 more fan on the front totaling 3 fans (spal)

^^thanks, looks like a clean setup...I figured two fans would fit with the stock radiator.

Why not use push style fans if clearance is an issue?

I thought about that, but i still don't know if they would fit. The car still has/will have a/c; Not sure if they would fit between the condenser and radiator. At the moment I just have one 12" fan behind the radiator and one 10" in front of the condensor. Plus I'm not sure if they pull enough CFM's....the 12" is rated at 1600cfm.
here is a pic of my setup:

Is this a DD or a track ****?

Edit: Nvm if you have a/c its prob a DD.

Looks like a pull style will work on the left side, and maybe find a pusher fan for the turbo side.

I have a puller fan on the turbo side right now....its a tight fit but i got it in. I just wonder if 1600cfms is enough

I used to have a turbo Integra with a Fluidyne radiator, and what I did was just take the A/C fan (which is somewhat slim) and modify it to fit over on the right side, then I made my own brackets for the top radiator mounts that were shorter so they angled the radiator away from the turbo. It worked really well and beats paying excessive amounts of money for aftermarket slim fans. The real key to keeping a turbo car cool on the road course is not bigger radiators and fans, but increasing air flow into and out of the engine bay. I added an upper vent in the front bumper so the top of the radiator got fresh air (the bottom was obstructed by the FMIC), then a drop-vent in the hood so that the heat could escape. It made a big difference.

hmm...So i should mainly be concerned about keeping under hood temps down. here is a quick pic of the front: http://img.photobucket.com/alb...1.jpg
