Default Noisy AC - '96 Accord EX v6

So my grandfather has a '95 or '96 Accord EX v6, and he's telling me that his air conditioning is noisy. He took it to his mechanic, and was told that a bearing on the compressor was going, but he didn't want to fix it (mechanic is pushing 70 and getting ready to retire).

I'd like to figure this out and possibly fix this problem for him, but I have no clue how to approach this. I haven't personally heard the noise, but he says it's like a bearing dragging/scratching when the AC is on.

I looked on HondaAutomotiveParts.com and didn't really see any replaceable bearings, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right spot... I know nothing about servicing AC, so I'd be very appreciative of any insight.

I have never taken a compressor apart, but you could just replace the whole compressor if ur grandfather has the money. the other cheap and easy fix is to just cut the a/c belt (as long as it doesnt drive anything else). he wont have a/c anymore, but the noise will be gone too!

i had a problem with mine too. mine was making an extremely loud noise though. i tried taking the fan out from underneath the passenger front dash, but i couldn't fix it, i ended up just taking the whole assembly out and replacing the fan, worked perfectly, the new fan is metal instead of plastic, much easier to install.
