If power wasn't an issue, and i was going to buy the full tourenn kit would it be smartest to buy a EX over an SI? (i would prefer to get automatic anyways, though it is no a neccessity)

if power wasnt an issue then yea sure. save you a couple grand. and since you prefer the automatic anyway, your set.

 

If you prefer an automatic vs. manual, you should pick the EX. You also mentioned that power wasn't an issue. Then, the only different is alloy wheels, spoiler and interior.

but, handling on the ex is pretty good. then again I use to drive a oldsmobile. lol

Wow, big baller. It's still a Civic, whoopee.

The EX coupe has similarly bolstered seats, and if you get red, silver, or black, you get the black interior that is everything the Si is except for the red stitched seats and red gauges.

You can get the HFP suspension kit which will improve handling while staying stock, closing the gap between it and the Si. And if you're doing daily driving, the larger front rotors aren't really going to make much of a difference at all.

The Tourenn lip kit is awesome by the way. I am also planning on the EX with the Tourenn kit.

 

are you looking at an ex w/ navi and auto?

if so, i would go for the SI...

the ex well equipped is $21,895

where as the Si is 21,745 w/o navi

you will get the better brakes,susp,engine, etc....

 

Honestly i think the si is a good deal and well worth it for the price and reliable daily driver

 

The the ex is a great car and with the money you save you could buy yourself some 19's or something

 

Well equipped w/o navi the price is close, and the SI is more value for the money. But you also get less mpg and have to get Prem. gas, which will deteriorate the difference quickly. If powerplant isn't an issues, then the suspension upgrade in an SI also probably isn't that import either. I've had both an 06 LX and a 07 SI so i know the difference pretty well.

 

thanks guys for the responses, what i'm probably going to do is get the EX and then get tein SS coilovers when i think i'm ready, and as far as transmission, i am gonna get automatic because this will be a daily driver, if i want to use stick i can always borrow my friends STI. And as far as with navigation, i don't think i'll be getting it because well, I'm a man, i know where everything is right?

Exactly. Buy for what you need, save the few grand. If you don't need an Si, no point Si owners telling you to buy one

 

just pimp out ur EX and you'll be good to go!!!

Yea, if you're paying a lot of money for a decent kit and suspension, why are you buying some cheap, crappy wheels?

AZULs are rice-boy tireshop special.

You'd be better off getting a good set of springs and shocks and saving a grand over the Tein coilovers and putting that money into your wheels and tires.

Under 1000 with tires is tricky.

Cheap, DECENT wheels from Rota, TSW, and Konig. Most people hate on Rotas because they're knockoffs of real wheels, and people think that's cheap.

Enkei makes a few decent cheap wheels, but the best Enkeis are the RPF-01's which will run over 200/wheel, which is a bit out of your price range.

I'd go on to http://www.tirerack.com and run your car through, you can pick a Civic by color and see how different wheels look on the car.

I look at wheel weight as the most important factor- cheap, heavy wheels affect your performance.

For example:

17x7 Enkei RPF1- 14.5 lbs, $230 a wheel
17x7 ASA R1- 21 lbs, $130 a wheel.

The most inexpensive lightweight wheel is the Kosei K1 TS, which is under 200/wheel and still weighs only 14 lbs.

Those pounds are unsprung weight, which means your engine has to use more energy to turn the heavier, larger wheels.

Using tirerack, you'll get a feel for how much you want to spend and how heavy a wheel weighs, and where you're willing to sacrifice weight and price.

5zigen's are pretty good. They make some cheapies and some good ones, just like Enkei does. I almost forgot about them, glad you reminded me!

The FN01R's are a staple, a lot of cars run them. Good, strong, and lightweight.

Their Sports Engine LX9000 is a relatively new wheel, I don't know about the weight though.

I don't know anything about RPM wheels, sorry!

 

If i was you i wouldnt do a body kit, but thats just me. I would save up and buy good wheels.

I like Tourenn as well, if I get a Civic that's the lip kit that's going on

 

for sure, i'll probably end up going with the 5zigen ("staple" wheels) you were talking about, they look good.
