Best Throttle Body?
Pretty self-explanatory thread I guess.
My friend has a fully-built B18C with all of the goodies like JUN 3s, 12.5:1 CR, done-up head, blah, blah... but he's missing one key component:
Throttle Body
What I'm interested in is info on various TBs including your opinions based on experience with the various ones avaialble. Performance, price, etc.
I called Erick's Racing and they no longer offer a 70mm TB - in fact, they cannot offer TBs because of a conflict of interest with a sponsor.

I know of SPOON, nut it *seems* pricey unless it is hand-down the best out there.
Thnaks in advance for any suggestions.

What about BBK? Good product?
I'm uaually afraid of "Mustang" parts or whatever, but I've been seeing good things from users here on H-T.
Anyone else?
...And no it's not for me. I could give 2 ***** about buying a TB - mine is just fine and will never be swapped or altered probably.

thanks
btw, with regards to the Spoon, it is 70mm OD taper bored to the stock ID.
it is quite pricey, but you are getting a new core, so the cost include the price of a new OE Honda TB which isn't cheap to begin with... and then Spoon markup......

80-66mm... we need the velocity (ventuli effect ) for the RESPONSE.
What intake Ben? ARC?

I'm waiting for more info on that TB too.
I appreciate all the replies.
I don't think a JUN manifold or TB or individual TBs in even an option. He's already sank a lot of loot into the motor, so the TB needs to be something a tad more budget-conscious.

And again I already spoke to Erick (from Erick's Racing) and again the 70mm TB is no longer available. All they had at the time were a few 68mm and those may have been the H and F-series ones.

So any more feedback on the BBK?
AJR - how much longer before you guys are done with yours, and how much U.S will it cost?
Thanks in advance!

The spoon TB may be $500, but it comes with a brand new tps and map sensor, both of which cost $250 at the dealer. Inline four offers overboring services now, so check out http://www.inlinefour.com. Jdmhondaparts also sells big bore TB's, which look like htey might be made by ericks. http://www.jdmhondaparts.com.
This is the one from jdmhondaparts. It's $390, and available in 66 or 68mm straight through design.

JG/Edelbrock does have an oversized throttle body (65mm). OEM'd by Magnetti Marelli... It may be vapor ware as I have yet to see one in real life.
Also, King Motorsports offers a overboring service...I think they run about $175 or something like that for a 4mm overbore.
Just out of curiosity, on the topic of JG/Edelbrock parts, has anybody seen any performance gains with their VictorX intake manifold (either by itself or in conjunction with their throttle body) in a NA application? THe only dynoplot I've seen is from a boosted (20psi) application...

"The KMS Big Bore Throttle Body is the perfect addition for those who want more intake capacity when using big camshafts, radical headwork and more compression. We enlarge your throttle body by 4mm. A new throttle plate is installed and the throttle body bore is tapered, enlarged and polished to fit. Each throttle body is bead blasted for perfect appearance and the TPS sensor is reset for optimum performance."

Spoon TB is totally waste of money if you already have ITR TB.
Just send it out to a good machine shop near where you live and have them bore it out and taper it. I don't think you want too much downtime by sending it too far away, and you definitely don't want to send it to Canada if you are in the US. The custom is so bitchy lately, GOD know how long you will have to wait.
