what is this thing
ok i got a 98 ex and i was wondering what is the big thing next to the battery called its right next to the battery on the right towerds the bottom its like a box with some hoses connecting to it on the top of it . its mounted on the firewall not sure if that explains it good but i was wondering what it was and do i need it

Its the charcol canister for your EVAP system. Yes you need it, its part of emissions and inspection in some states.
