Default 2000 accord ex cd player swap

I have the stock cd player(not the disk changer) in my 2000 accord ex 4cyl. It has a security light on the unit which is what I am worried about. I have had many civics and integra but they have been from 1997 and older with no security. My question is wil I run into any complications with anything by putting a 1 din cd player in the car. I already have the wiring harness and dash adapter. I do not want to mess anything up. Btw the cd player I am installing is the Pioneer deh - p2900

no problems with the security. just pull out old and install the new. if you ever want to install the factory cd player, then you will need the code for the radio. that is what the security is. any loss of power from the factory radio makes it reset and you have to put in the code to turn it on.

The security is radio specific, not car specific. So as Tx_Accord98 said, once the radio is out you won't have any problems putting a new one in.

While it's out, go ahead and stop by your local Honda dealer and get the code for the old radio then write it on the back of the unit with a sharpie or something, you'll need it if you ever want to put it back into the Accord or if you were to sell it on ebay. The dealer won't charge you though they will probably ask for your registration (proof that you own the car), and they'll need the serial number off of the radio.

And I'm sure you'll enjoy the new radio - it'll handle CDs much better, your display will have much more information, and of course the .mp3s / .wmas. Last summer I put a Sony GT410U into my '95 Camry, I love it. In my Accord I still have the OEM radio though I have an Alpine CD changer in the trunk.

thanks everyone. With your information I installed the new cd player. It was rather simple. I m going to the dealership to get the code now because that is a great idea AND they sell on ebay for more than what I paid for the dash kit and harness(my buddy from best buy hooked me up). Anyway, you guys are awesome. Is there anyway to donate money to the site?

And the reason why I istalled my Pioneer CD player was so it could handle cds better like you said. The stock player has trouble playing burned cds. I can also hook up my mp3 player and laptop(anything with a headphone jack) and there is more wattage going to the speakers too! Its so much louder. I am sooooooo happy. I cant beive I waited a couple weeks and I had everything here!

*********If anyone wants this cd payer let me know before I sell it on ebay in a few days************
