just bought a beginner welder but need 2 question answered cant find in *search*
I just bought this welder: ClarkeŽ 180EN 220 Volt 180 Amp (No Gas or Gas) Mig Welder. couldnt really afford top dollar but this will do for now. but it didnt come with a plug. and im iffy at wiring together
i have a 2x 30amp breaker for my dryer so technically a 60amp and also for my ac unit
my question is: can i wire this to plug into my dryer? the welder says Operates from standard 220 VAC. but i dont have one. and is the ground and neutral the same
Max Amps: 180
Min Amps: 30
Heat Settings: Six
Max Open-Circuit Voltage: 30
+ / - Polarity control.
Circuit Breaker Req: 25 amps
Input voltage: 220 VAC
Phase: Single
Duty Cycle: 20% at 100% output
Duty Cycle: 30% at 85% output

you did what im trying to do.
by the way did your welder have a neutral or ground wire and how bout ur ac box. im still unsure if netural and ground can be mixed.
thanks to all that replyed

the white and black are both HOT. that's why it's 220v. you have two hot leads in a 220v circuit, and no neutral wire. Netural is ALWAYS white but white is not always neutral. The bare or green wire is the grounding wire. Just match the colors at the pullout box. I wired it into the side after the pullout. that way I can make sure my circuit isn't hot after I'm done by turning off the circuit breakers first and then removing the a/c pullout.
oh and if u're using an extension cord I'd use at least 12GA. I bought a 50ft 12ga extension cord and it's worked fine.

Just wondering how you're liking this machine? I was thinking about picking up one also and just wanted some comment.
Also how much did you pick it up for and where?
