Stock radio interchangeability between models?
I have an '88 CRX and would like to put an OEM radio with CD player into it. Are there any particular radios that will "plug and play" from later model Hondas?
You might wanna try posting in the CRX/EF forum as well. They might be more knowledgeable about the stock stereo in the car. Sorry I have no idea what other "stock" stereos will be a direct swap. Although an after market CD player is what I would recommend. There not too hard to install into a CRX at all.

I believe all Honda's 88-98 use the same radio harness, 70-7901 (i think). If that is the case, you can take any OEM honda radio from 88-98 that will physically fit, and it should plugin and work.

I would say away from 96-98 Civic HUs, they would be a bit of a pain.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I somehow ended up reading about radios on the Crutchfield website and decided to hold out for something aftermarket. I might take a picture of a stock radio, print it out and glue it to a piece of posterboard to put in front of the aftermarket radio when I'm not in the car. Call it ghetto theft-deterrent

</TD></TR></TABLE> Better yet, remove the front of the OEM radio, glue any loos ***** in place, grind off anything on the back and use it as a "dummy plate" over the aftermarket HU, [once you remove it's removable face plate] a very effective theft deterrent.
