the old 96 GSR threw a code 22 this evening after some "spirited" driving

book says Vtec problem
checked oil level and it was perfect
reset code reved engine progressivley up to 5.1k (vtec set at 5k on my car) and code did not appear, but that was beacause car was not driving at 5k it was being reved at that level. Car has never thrown a code before, but i almost never rail on it that hard either. did not go over rev limiter or even hit it shifted at 8k in each gear when code appeared. Suggestions? what could be wrong and what should be looked at?

 

Do u have a vtec controller ? check to make sure that there is not any loose connections
