Honda Challenge race engine specs?
Hello everyone,
New guy here. I'm working on a unique little project and could use your help. I'm heavily involved in racing simulation (pc based) and I'm currently working on a CRX mod (for a program known as rfactor). We're now thinking of basing it on NASA's Honda Challenge series. I would like to know what the typical performance specs are of most of these cars. Any direct info given here, or suggestions of where I can find this information, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Message for Dirty19... I tried to reply to your instant message here, but noobs aren't allowed to use that feature here? I had the following message come up:
"You do not have permission to use instant messaging."
send me an email to sales@trinity-racing.com and I can send you info you requested. You can also Google Trinity Racing Concepts for samples of what I'm involved in.
Well, there's actually the potential of having all groups, H1-H5, represented in this and allowing the user to select from several optional performance packages. So hp, torque, redline, etc. estimates for all 5 groups would be helpful. I'd also like to know what gears people are running. And if anyone knows the suspension geometry, that would be helpful as well. In this simulation, we're able to incorporate just about everything there is on a real car... track, camber, caster, suspension travel, bump, dampening, toe, roll center, roll camber rate, kingpin inclination, scrub radius, etc., etc. So far, I have an early beta going after setting some rough estimates, but it's far too easy to drive and needs a lot of work.
Btw, there is the potential of eventually making all the different Honda Challenge cars for rfactor... we're just starting with the CRX first because I own one and hope to run it in HPDE real soon.

Thank you CRX Toad, but I already have the rules... looking for more than rules. So far, I've been told that your typical H4 class CRX would be around 120-130 HP to rear wheels... Info like that is not in the rule book. I need a lot more than that though.
What Chad has given me is a very good start... Thanks Chad, I may have to invite you up to my place for some serious beta testing! Do you know the Locks from GoTo Racing team? They live just a short ride from my place in Scotts Valley... hang out with them from time to time.

all the cars in HC are FWD cept for s2k and nsx

Ooops... I knew that, just typing away here with half my brain cells occupied by the NFL playoff games...
Btw Chad, we have to do CRX first because the guy who started this decided he just wanted to do a CRX and it's already 3/4 the way there. He's a very talented 3D modeller based in Holland... I became involved in doing the physics because I have 1990 CRX Si that I plan to run in HPDE and am considering getting into HC later on (probably with a different car though). I do have access to several other Honda race cars in rfactor... I plan to spend the next few months testing them to see how good they'll fit the HC series and if it looks good (and all creators approve) we may eventually release a complete series to the public.

Nah, don't listen to Chad and stick with the CRX!
All the figures are right about on. Wheel base is 90".
If there's anything else, just let us know!

H5 CRX is a first generation CRX, 1.5l 12valve engine. hp 90-109ish tq 90-105ish. Redline is 6800-7200 but doesn't make much power over 6800. Weight on the car is 2000 with driver.
Good luck with the game.
