Default Knocking

I just recently replaced the head gasket and oil pump on my '94 SiR and it drove perfect for about two weeks. I passed on the highway and when I downshifted the motor stalled and wouldn't start. After getting to my garage I finally got the engine to turnover, but while running I now have a very loud knock coming from the engine compartment. Where should I start?

Start with an oil change.. Look to see if you have and "glitter" like substants coming out. If you see something sprakling at you then it would be alot easier to determin what is actual wrong.

My guess is some how some thing got inside your motor when changing the HG and caused this mishap.

Sounds to me like you didnt tension the t-belt well, when it stalled jumped timing, and you could have valves tapping away at you pistons. but i dont know if it would be running still if that happened, and its performance would deff. be sucking.

yeah if you wanna have the cylinder walls refinished, buy a new crank and rod and what ever else was ruined by the rod bearing particulates flying around in the oil . At that point the motor has been trashed. But, hey, they sell trash at flea markets, so technically its not useless.
