CAI water protection
Im worried about water. Whats the best protection out there? I know there are filter sleeves, and i could put the filter in a certain location. (where would that be) Is there a filter water blocker out there that i can put on along with the sleeve?

Better yet, keep your stock box and invest in a K&N or Spoon drop-in filter, and save your money. Best bang-for-your-buck IMHO.

x2 the password jdm whale ***** one will do and you dont have to worry about water, and you get one hp or two, unless you got vents on your hood or you decide to take a swim in the lake..lols

As stated if you want a CAI your best bet is a filter sleeve and bypass valve. Or as also stated you could just invest in a short ram instead.

Most cold air intakes i have seen are actually smaller tube then the factory
IF i was you i would get a short ram or keep the stock box. with the lower one removed.
Are you kidding me? Why in the hell would a short ram suck in warm air? maybe if its hella hot out, but a cold air intake isnt really goin to suck in colder air cause its lower neither

stock box with drop in filter is always a good choice....i'm not positive but i think the comptech airbox will get a little cooler air without being so low that it will suck in water....

don't worry about it. just steer clear of standing water of any consequence. i drove around w/ a cold air intake on my Civic for 9 years without any problems. I even had a hole in the bumper right in front of the filter.
keep in mind i live in a very rainy ocean side area, so the opportunity was there, but i just was careful.

OP: Get a short ram/velocity stack combo and actually make power, or keep the stock airbox and get a good drop in.
Problem solved.

My freind had an AEM CAI on his old eg, It made a very pronounced throaty tone that rivaled most short rams that I've heard. AEM's "acoustically tuned" intakes are given that name for one reason or another I suppose. They can both be reasonably quiet if you arent running the motor like a bat out of hell either.
The fact that a short ram sucks in air from the engine bay depletes 1-2 hp if that compared to a CAI. Worrying about that is like crying over spilt milk.

Tell me you dont really believe that? The CAI is only getting cooler air when you are at a stand still. Once you start moving, the air in the engine bay circulates, and is the same temp as outside the hood.
It doesnt matter really.
