Default 1) Good beginner bike? 2) Where to shop for it?

1) Do you think a Honda CBR600 is a good beginner bike? Would it be wise to stay away from the F2, and focus on the F3 and the F4? I'm looking to spend about $3-4k.

2) What are some good places to look at bikes for sale online?

Thanks guys.

Already read the H-T post. Do you care to elaborate on your reply?

i highly recommend your local newspapers' classifieds section. i dont see why the F2 would be a bad beginner sportbike.

i dont like starting people off on sportbikes, but everyone does it anyway...

hmm well cycletrader should have worked try it again, it has a lot of bikes for sale on it, you can probably pick one up at a local gas station, and well a suzuki sv650 is dubbed the best bike to start off with if you have taken the msf course or if you know how to ride a bike, so are cbr600f2's and f3's, there are also yamaha fzr600's and older suzuki katanas although those have fairings which you probably wanna steer away from since they are kind of expensive to repair or replace, if you dont have any experience a good bike to start off with is also the kawasaki ninja 250 or 500

I bought an older 500cc as a beginner bike. My friend bought a brand new CBR 600F4i as a beginner bike and we both agree that the CBR is much easier to ride because everything seems so much more precise (smooth shifting, great clutch, etc...) Although we both did take an MSF course. But I dont care if I drop my bike, he would.

hope this helps,
Nate

Well there are reasons why the F4i was smoother etc, I mean fuel injection number one is going to make one hell of a difference, especially going from a non FI bike to one that has it.

Older bikes are definitely great to put around on
