Default 85x89 CRX - Some "all motor" fun

Here's some quick, fun street footage of my father's daily-driven 85x89/stock sleeve B20VTEC CRX.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDIbtpACX50

Car made 211whp/154wtq at it's last dyno session, and trapped 110mph at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA.

Build thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2024155

Let me know whatcha' think. Also, mods, if this is in violation of this forum's rules, let me know. Sorry in advance!

Enjoy!

"theres a little 1st, 2nd for ya" that first 1-2 shift (12 second point) sounds so ill. that motor is a beast. what cams are in that again? ugr s2s3? anyway, nice whip

car is nice and clean!

very similar to my 85x87.2mm build -- when the tires finally catch up to the pavement, it hauls!

Compared to the HT Standard Dyno, it reads a little low.

And yeah, we're looking for 112-113mph here in once the tracks open back up.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Aquafina &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">It doesn't like 2nd gear. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Oh, it LIKES it. The tires just don't.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Rollo Lawson &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">"theres a little 1st, 2nd for ya" that first 1-2 shift (12 second point) sounds so ill. that motor is a beast. what cams are in that again? ugr s2s3? anyway, nice whip</TD></TR></TABLE>

Yeah, they are the UGR S2S3's in this motor. We're swapping them out for a set of Brian Crower Stage 3's though very shortly, as well as an intake manifold swap to the Victor X, in an attempt to try and prevent the "Jekyll-and-Hyde" characteristics of this engine. The primaries on these cams are real small, and the VTEC lobes REAL big, so we'd like to smooth that out some more. We'll be taking the car on-track at ITR Expo 8, if all goes as planned, and I have this feeling the cams in the car right now will *ahem* "unsettle" the car a little.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Wish I had those Tq numbers
You'll have a blast on course at Expo 8, the funny thing about track days are that the 1/4 mile suddenly becomes less appealing.

Try not to pass to many of the ITR guys at Expo...they might throw you out

if you see a white haired guy in a black K20 powered ITR, make sure your daddy gives him a real good 9k rpm buzz.

That was already done at Expo 7 by a 198whp C5 ITR I was riding passenger in.

The tune is definitely on the conservative side.

I kindof laughed out loud watching that video, that first / second gear looked almost EXACTLY like my car.. it isn't there..
and i bet its funny riding in that car..partial throttle wot probably is **** slow compared to the vtec your switching from such a small lobe to a huge *** big one i bet that sucker sounds like a gun going off irl..

awesome build as always derek..
Glad you and your dad are in it together.
Wish my dad was still alive to help build ****, i'm sure we would have make quite the team.

to you bro.

This car seems to pull out quite nicely once the power makes it to the ground.

A:F's are tuned to roughly 12.8-13.0:1, with WOT timing ranging from 18*-20* in Uberdata.
