Help with O2 sensor
I recently got a CEL code 41. I went to check the sensor and noticed that my exhaust manifold was cracked, so I figured maybe that was the problem, so I swap my D16Y7 manifold with an aftermarket header. The header came with an extension for the O2, so I used it. I reseted the ECU and got a CEL code 41 and 65, the last one I know is because now I have no cat. So, if I am still getting a CEL code 41, do that means I need a new O2 sensor, or can it be the extension I used for the sensor or what? BTW I have a 97 Civic HB. Also, is there a way to absolutely determine if the sensor is bad?
Aftermarket header will give you a CEL because the 2nd 02 sensor is reading for unfiltered (no Cat) exhaust gases, which the ECU determines to be as a deficient catalytic converter. Usually when you get a code 41 (primary o2), it means its just worn, old and malfunctioning. Its not uncommon for those sensors to go bad. A cracked manifold wouldnt be a likely cause of a sensor code unless you were leaking gross amounts of exhaust (it would sound like crap at that point)
honda did a waranty extension on the emmisions stuff, i would give them a call. they have already replaced my cat converter because it was cracked, two o2 sensors, and pcm. I aslo have a 97 cx. you might have to put the stock cat back on then take it to them so they can see the crack for themself then replace it.

I called my local Honda Dealership and asked them and they looked into it, but they couldn't find any kind of service for that issue. Do I have to call some other Honda place or is there a number that someone can give to call and ask?

honda warranty's there o2 sensors, for real, i am about to buy a new one from NTK, i have a 1997 hx and the o2 sensor is ripped for some reason and i didnt do anywork to to the cat, because the 5 wire sensors are a little expensive and if honda does pay for it, that would be really cool.
call honda of north america and ask if you car qualifies for the (emmissions )warrenty extension. In addition to replacing the 02 sensors they aslo did a free tune up and oil change. tune up included plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

I am replacing the 02 sensor on my 95 ex, i bought the denso oe type (plug and play) from sparkplugs.com. Heres a direct link with you cars info. You car has two so it will be more, you can give them a call to make sure you get the right ones. The oe type will plug in and you dont have to splice wires.

yep i got a appointment with honda on Friday, my tune up is void due to salvage title so i am sol on that one, but they are going to check out the emission system anyways, and give me new floor mats since there was a recall for them on ek civics and something about a filter, well whatever worse come to worse i get free floor mats which i am in need of really bad, but when I come back i am going to let everyone know what happens so everyone can take advantage of there warranty that they have no idea about.

Yes. I called today and they did have a warranty extension on the emissions system. To qualify you need to have less than 150,000 miles or 14 years. Also they told me I qualify for a free maintenance on my car, they are going to change the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition wires, distributor and rotor for free. The only thing I am scared is that they will deny me the service since I don't have an accurate milage on my vehicle since I swap my cluster for an SI one. Well, I also have to change my header and put the stock one back and then call my local honda dealership to make an appointment. If anyone needs more info on how to get this free service from Honda let me know.
