B20 swap ?
I have looked at a few different swap write ups and not been able to find the info I am looking for. This is my first swap but I am familiar with cars in general.
I am swapping a B20 into my 90 HB and have the engine and tranny all in and I have converted the car to OBD-1. I have everything sitting in the car and it just does't look right, MY QUESTION IS, did anyone else have the issue of not being able to get the header to fit past the crossmember? I know that it is normal to cut a small amount of the crossmember to get the header to fit but I think I will need to cut a good 2 1/2 inches out of it to get my header to fit. Is this tight of a clearance normal? Does anyone know of a header that will fit in without to much modification to the crossmember ? Thanks for any help. Chad

Come to find, it varries by car for some reason....
But yes normally you'll have to notch, if you are really that worried get a pic of it all test fit we can tell if something is wrong. Better yet get a nice X member free up some room

It depends on the header. For instance, I have a B20Z in my 1988 Civic 4DR with a DC header. And the header clears the crossmember fine. However, if I was to use, say, a DC JDM 4-1 header, I would have to either cut a BIG notch or go with something like the Innovative crossmember. Of course, different mountkits can also make a difference. I am using the Hasport kit. But other mount kite might place the engine farther forward, causing more interference.
If you have clearance problems, I highly recommend the Innvative crossmember. Ths is what I am using in my CRX. And it basically gives me TONS of room for whatever header I might want to use. Unlike traction bars, this crossmember uses the stock radius rods rather than Heim joints. Soit is a MUCH better choice for street use.

I should have mentioned this car is not a street car at all, but a dirt race car for a circle track. I used to race G2 Integra's but now needed a lighter car so I am switching everything over to the Civic. But any way, I am using a cheap ebay kit for the mounts, so that may be the problem. I think I may have found a good deal on a used innovative crossmember to solve this problem though. Thanks for your help guys.
