Default 99 honda DX Civic makeover?

Hi noob poster here,. I own a 99 honda civic dx, its gotten a little banged up over the years with a bit of a smushed left fender but not too bad really but noticeable when u really look at it, some scratches on the oem back bumper from some dood who mushed up against my car but was so gaddarn poor and insuranceless I just let it slide figured its just the plastic bumper no real harm done at least there were no injuries just looks scratchy now and one of the skirts came off on a trip to reno one year and just never made it back with me to cali to re-attach.
Anyway so the cars looks like a real beater now but still running good under the hood and gets GreaT gas mileage..
Can anyone of yall cool and experienced honda owners throw some ways to maybe spruce it up ?
Is lowering it and putting wheels on it even a good idea and worth it?
Are there fenders or kits and stuff that look good but dont make it too street racey looking ive already been pulled over by over zealous jerkoff cops around my hood that think my cars all trosed out because its a black honda. I laffed at him when he said he was from "street racing unit" and I told your in street racing unit and you cant tell a stock muffler from an aftermarket (,mines all stock)??Come on! Cops man
The only thing ive ever done to this car so far is add an aem intake which works real nice... oh yea, it bumps pretty hard mtx n' good audio stuff was the very first thing I did when I bought it in 99(on the dl though of course). Appreciate any words of wisdom cool peeplz! Thankfully because its a bit older and only a dx coupe parts and stuff for my little honda thats always been good 2 me are much cheaper these days.. Good lookin out in advance appreciate any feedback

I would say, first, get a nice body job and paint job, then wheels and lower it. Lip kit and you are good to go.
