Default DA bumper gaps won't go away!

So I'm having a hard time putting my front bumper back on my 91' Integra after installing my JDM one pieces. It fit perfectly fine with no gaps at all before I took the bumper off and now no matter what I do now I have about a 1/4" to 1/2" gap on both sides by the fenders. It also will not seal with the bottom of my headlights like it used too. So what's the deal? How come I can't get it back on properly after taking it off? If I would of known taking it off would off gave me a gap like that I would of stuck with my USDM lights.

I also have a gap problem on my rear bumper too. The rear has always been like that since I owned the car though. I tried loosening all the bolts and pulling up on the bumper and tightening it again but it didnt do anything. There is around a constant 1/2" gap all the way around the rear bumper that no matter what I do won't go away. It looks really ugly when directly behind me because you can see all the white plastic clips through the gap.

So why won't my bumpers go back on right? I'm the third owner of the car but it has been in my family since new and it has never been wrecked so I know for a fact that isn't the problem. So what's the deal? Is there a special way I should be putting it back on? Are there any tricks to it or anything?

If it fit before you did the headlights, then the problem must be the headlights. Closely compare the mounting points on the original assmblies with the replacements. From here, it sounds like the part of the bumper slides into the base of the headlights isn't going in far enough.

There isn't a differnce in the headlight assemblies like there is in the bumpers is there? Like 90-91 and 92-93.

Can't help for the rear, if it's all stock and never been hit, it should fit. Are all of the clips unbroken?

if nothing else you can diy and use screws from the inside to snug it up or maybe silicone, a pic would be awsome.

you may have missed replacing a few bolts...find a diagram or retrace each step you took taking it off, there should be no difference in fitment considering your new headlights...

You have to remove the bumper to take the lights out. Someone must have already removed your lights before if you didnt have to. There are 3 bolts on top of the light then there are 2 others underneath and you need to remove the bumper cover to get to the bottom bolts.

Maybe the foam inside the bumper shifted somehow and is holding it from going back correctly.

I still would, especially if you have JDM one pieces. Just because people would be likely to steal those and it would be easy as hell to steal with just the top bolts holding them in place. But if you have the bottom bolts on a thief would need to take your bumper off to get them out, not likely.

Plus the top 3 mounting tabs on one pieces are plastic and the bottom 2 are metal, I don't like the idea of them only being attached to the car by some flimsy damn near 20 year old plastic. I could see a tab breaking just by hitting a good size pothole or something.

yeah i would also suggest to bolt up the bottom as well. if you want to use both bolts down there, you'll have to exchange the brackets off you the usdm with the jdm to fit right. the splash gauges on the bottom of the bumper could and would get in the way. that's what was giving me the problems with my gap. because it actually goes on the inside of the bumper but if you leave it on the outside it'll push the bumper out a little.hope this helps and goodluck

I know that in the front, under the headlights there are these rubber strips that kind of "tounge and groove" fit on the top side of the bumper so the headlights rest on the rubber and not the bumper. When i repainted by first DA i removed the bumper to paint it and when i reassembled the front end i noticed the same kind of gaps and then noticed the rubber was still lying around. If you dont know the rubber pieces i am talking about then your headlights were probably already removed and those pieces were forgotten along with mine. and with the rear you might just try to remove the bumper cover and wrench on the support (trying to pull it up). Youve probably already done this but look for the bolts that hold the rear support on and see if the holes for the bolts are slotted (giving you adjustment up and down). Hope this helps

With the rear bumber I'm having the same problem with one side being gapped.

I've had the top3 only holding mine on for almost 5 years.

Wow, good for you. Would you like a cookie? I have seen countless one pieces for sale with missing/broken tabs due to lazy asses like you. Just because it hasn't happened to you yet doesn't mean it can't.

And what's the point of only bolting the tops down anyway? What are you benefiting by not bolting the bottoms? You do realize any thief could rip those lights out of your car in about 60 seconds, right?
