Default where can i BUY my own large argon cylender from

all the local places will only sell the 2ft tall one, the large ones you have to "rent". i had one that i got from a guy on craigslist but i sold it with my old syncrowave. i just got another syncrowave and i want to get one of the big tanks, i know somewhere must sell them

just thought to check ebay!

Found mine at a local welding shop. He had like 15 of them and was happy to sell one.

pretty sure you can only legally own an 80cu ft one. its about 3 feet tall.
you have to rent anything bigger.

airgas here in town wants $210 for a 125cuft (4 foot tall) cylinder with a free first fill.

Local welding supply wanted 225 + 40 for a fill.

Tractor supply has little tanks 60 or 80 cuft (little blue ones), and i couldnt get exact prices from them, but i think they said its 80 for your first fill, then for refills are like 20 or something

I'm going to be watching craigslist

Paid about $250 filled, for mines at Airgas.

IIRC, when I checked the local Praxair, they quoted me $160 for a 120cf tank, filled w/my name on it. I specifically asked for purchasing the argon 120cf tank, not leasing. I got my starter 20cf for $80/filled, and it costs $37 to refill that, while the 120cf was $57 to refill. They take your old bottle and give you a new one, thats what makes it so much here, I believe.

Craigslist FTW

best option in my opinion is usually to rent. its like $4 a month for any size and there is an initial deposit of $100 that you get back. then you can get the 330 bottles.

i tend to move around ever couple years and lugging a huge bottle sucks ***.

my 300cf tank was $350 including the fill, if you want to buy a big tank try looking for a family owned welding shop.

i wish i lived in the states just for argon fills. i have a crappy 80cuft tank that i have to lease for like 80-90 dollars a year and it costs more then 80 dollars to fill it. best part is they don't even fill them as much as they can or should. damn you ontario.

i thought it was illegal to sell those bottles? either that or they just don't do it for some reason.

just a word of warning. if you buy a bottle from a specific company most other companies won't fill them without proper paper work and usually you have to wait a couple days while they fill it.

yes, i know some shops do it while you wait, but most of the bigger places won't. i've moved around quite a bit and trust me, its a hassle.

its probably just company policy, i got my tank legit with paperwork but i still wouldn't take the tank to AIRGAS because they are expensive... they wanted to charge me $45 to fill my 40cf, the new place i go to re-fills my 300cf for $60

not all companies will fill tanks that aren't their own. I've ran into that problem before.

the cost of filling isn't the quantity guys, it's about the huge service fee of filling it, ask the salesmen themselves. it's always something like $35 to fill as a service charge, and $3 for a 20 of gas, $5 for a 40 of gas, and i pay $15 for a 330 of gas for a total of $50 to fill.

I say just lease a tank. If you own it they have to fill YOUR tank so you usually have to leave it there overnight or however long it is until they do the next scheduled fill of your particular gas mix. I used to own my oxygen and act tank. Goddamn waiting that long and making two trips every time started pissing me off.

I own my own tank, purchased from AIRGAS.

I just drop by, swap them for a prefilled tank, and ready to go? They normally give you the same condition tank.

The reason for leasing tanks is because tanks have expiration dates, and valves etc that go bad. They Wont fill an expired tank Our Local Welding Supply house will only fill their own tanks. If your bring a set of your own tanks in they will take them on trade and give you a lifetime lease. so when you need gas just drop off the old empty ones and get new filled outs in about 10 minutes

Ah well screw Purity gases then lol. I don't even know where I got my tanks from anymore but they were not from purity. That was probably the hold up. Scratch what I said then.

Look else where, we use to work with a company like that, I finally found another company. I called the other company because we now have an account, told them I needed a cylinder exchange, how much to pick it up at our shop. He said $30, I pretty much hung up.

I don't even know if I own or lease this tank, I paid about $230 at the beganing and when I went back they would swap it out and I would just pay the fill charge.

PRAXAIR all the way. $27 dollas for Argon.
