AEM CAMGEARS
performance cam gears are not street legal in california, but can you install a aem cam gear on a motor and cover it up? can u put the plastic piece back on?
I wouldn't see why you couldn't but then again don't get into much trouble cause then they might start ripping your motor apart to see what legal or not

no you can't
the additional power allotted by the used of adjustable cam gears would obliterate any plastic within 3 inches.
of course you can, people remove em they say "for adjustability" but really they remove em to show off that 60dollar part.

Why do u say that I know a lot of ppl who have them on stock motors but have it tuned and their ECU chipped it helps out a lot with timing

We can not fail you for something we don't see.......Same with cam's and porting etc........
I replaced mine because the cam gear was worn. I could not set the timing to spec. So it was either the stock pressed one or the AEM. Yes, they can be used as a stock replacement if you cover them.
