99 LS Motor in 95 GSR (OBDI to OBDII) question
Note: I have searched through over 10 pages of OBDI and OBDII search (recent and archive) results with no answer in sight...
I'll see if i can make this as short but informative as possible...
Background: I gave my Dad my '95 GS-R, but took the motor for my del Sol and "replaced" it with a 99 LS <U>auto</U> motor (the auto might be the key point here???). He still has the GSR manual tranny, but we are using the auto LS engine harness.
Most of the harness plug into each other just fine (<U>although a lot of the wire colors are different</U>), but there are a couple of harness by the battery that don't mate up... I think one is a 6 pin trying to go to a 4 pin (???) but I don't have it in front of me to be sure...
Question is: Does the OBDII engine harness normally just plug directly into all of the OBDI car harnesses, meaning no re-pinning or weird wiring conversions? I know some of you have swapped in OBDII ITR motors into OBDI cars; is there anything funky that needs to be done? I have a feeling that the harness in question is somehow related to the auto tranny stuff that the car harness never had, but that seems a little fishy since I would think the car harness is the same for all ODBI cars (auto or manual).
I know I could convert everything to OBDI (injectors, distributor, engine harness, etc.) but that is a lot of cost and hassle I don't want to go through, as I'm pretty sure I can do it with what I've got already, but maybe with some "minor" tweaks...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adrian

Honestly DOHC its way much easier to just find an OBD I (5speed) engine harness cause with what you got right now is WAY more difficult to do. The automatic engine harness pins are way different then the 5 speed so you would have to do a lot of mods to it. Seriously save yourself the time and buy a 5 speed engine harness.. Hey didn't your delsol come with a harness? Why don't you use that one?
Oh and just change everthing to OBD I (distb, injectors, etc.) Or find yourself a OBD II 5 speed engine harness
