Default new to hondas and ive got a ?

hi im new to hondas and ive got a few questions.
i have a 98 accord v6 ex
first my glovebox has a rattling noise and it driving me crazy!
second is i think my tranny is going out. when it shifts up or down it shifts harder than any other auto tranny i have ever driven.
third question is that my cruise doesnt work. the little button to the left of the steering wheel lights up, and i try to set cc. but cc does not engage.

i done lots of research and tried everything i could think of.
thanks.

Your years were known to have tranny issues so you are most likely correct in assuming that, do some searching in the Accord section for transmission and I bet 8/10 results are your problem.

Glove box - make sure all the little arms and rubber stoppers are in place.

Cruise - make sure there's no CEL, that you have all the cruise hardware under the hood, and that you're doing it properly (owners manual) I'm not sure on your car exactly what buttons to push so I can't speak for that but I know my girlfriend didn't know how to enable cruise on her accord

for the cc, you must reach a certain speed (55mph?) in order for the cruise to engage. Make sure the button on the left is pushed, and the CRUISE CONTROL light on the dashboard lights up.

From there, you must push SET/accel in order for it to engage.

you could try a tranny service first, might help with the shifting. but yes the 98-02s have crapy automatic trannies.

glove box, you got to have a loose screw or something, try to take the box off, and inspect it and every thing behind it. if the box seems fine then try driving it around without the box to listien for something else that could be making the noise.

the cruise control, well I know on my 97 first you turn on the button on the left of the steering wheel. Then after I am at the general speed I want, you push the decel/set which turns on the light on the dash, and engages the system. It might be a touch different for you 98. check all the vacuum lines, then the silinoid.
