Default Velocity Stack from Whale *****

I;ve sold the whale ***** because i was wanting to do the velocity stack and the cai or sri. Thinkng i would get more power, and ive seen dynos and read that the whale ***** isn't as good. I was just wondering the sound from the whale *****. Since i sold it, i got a aem cai, and the VTEC crossover is weaker, and doesn't have a deep throat sound like the whale ***** did. How will the velocity stack on the car sound like?

Do you like it? How does it make your car run and feel? Do you need to tune or do a re-tune if you put a stack on? sorry for all the questions, a buddy of mine convinced me to do this, and sell my whale *****, so im hoping its worth it, bc i really miss the whale pnis. Lol.

I would tune it according to sound. When vtak hits hard enough to set off car alarms you should be set. Or get on a dyno and try different lengths of intake pipe. Key length varies from setup to setup.

i havent seen the whale ***** make any good numbers compared to a standard short ram or cold air... most of the cars ive done like some what of a longer pipe.. usually pick up 10-15hp spike at around 4k....lose about 4-5hp from 5-6..then gain back 5+ from 6k up with a tuned cold air

yeah the whale ***** didn't feel like it was givin me much of a gain, it sounded great though. When i get the stack, ill go get it tuned and such, but thanks for the input.

The stack works nice not a real noticable diffrence in sound or power for me and not worth re-tuning for the money

i got my stack in, and tested it out. VTEC was as loud when i had my whale *****. As for power, i felt a little gain for my butt dyno. I think my 1st gear i had a stronger pull through the RPM's as well as 2nd and 3rd. But i dunno, lol i like it tho.

I tried a normal whale ***** and a VS on a home made CAI last summer. The Tq numbers on the ***** were ridiculous for an 81.5x89 build (152 ft lbs@5500) but the car wouldn't go down the track for **** with 12.90's at 103. Did some welding and bending and made a CAI with a circuit hero VS on the end coming out the pass fog light hole and the car would pick up 6mph and 5 tenths. Tried it with an SRI and the old school headlight scoop and it equaled near identical results.

Took it back to the dyno and pulled them all, the whale ***** made the best numbers at 207/152 but the Velocity stack that got it the hell down the track only made 205/145. Where I am from, we race cars, not dyno's so I stuck with my lower powered setup that trapped 109 consistently .

sorry to bring up a old subject butttt

n00b question#1:

what exactly is this velocity stack I keep hearing everyone talk about. Searched and all I see is pictures of them for sale.

#2:

explain the dynamics of this? basiclly from what i'm gathering its a reducer which speeds up the air flowing into

#3:

where can I get a nice shiny new one for my LS/V set up with Injen CAI into a 70mm tb with a port matched ITR intake manifold.

#4: do you think the above set up will be good or no?
