what do you guys think? I was hoping to try these out for a track tire instead of getting the Azeni 615

They appear to be similar to the Azenis, RE-01R, etc, with large tread blocks and a supersticky compound. In Tire Rack testing, they turned better dry lap times than the Yoko AD07 and BFG KD, although not as quick as the RE-01R, and that's pretty darn good. That's right about where the Azenis come in, based on Grassroots Motorsports tests. And they're priced like the Azenis, not like these other three tires which are considerably more expensive.
Try them out and let us know.
BTW, your link isn't working; try this one.

In the States, the price of the Z1 at the Tire Rack is very similar to the RT-615.

According to this side-by-side test by the Tire Rack, the RE-01R did better than the Z1 overall, but the Z1 did better than the AD07 or the KD. And the RE-01R is more expensive than the Z1. Which means in terms of price and performance, the Z1 sounds like it's similar to the Azenis. When a lot of people start using them competitively and posting results, we'll have more evidence to consider.

Based on the Tire Rack Test:-
They basically were both either placing 1st or second to each other...These are the ratings:-
Combined Road and Track Rating:- Stones 7.59 VS Z1's 7.52
Stones placed first in Real World Road Ride Ratings:-
Ride Comfort, Noise Comfort, Handling and Overall Road Rating
Z1's placed first in Performance Driving Data- Dry Test Track:-
Corner Stability, Steering Response Brake Modulation and Overall Track Rating.
Z1's placed first in Performance Driving Data- Wet Test Track:-
Corner Stability, Steering Response Brake Modulation, Handling Predictability and Overall Track Rating
Z1's did better in the dry & wet slalom, dry & wetlap times, dry & wet stopping distance and dry & wet average cornering G's over the Stones...
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R (Extreme Performance Summer 225/45R17)
* What We Liked: Surprisingly refined road manners
* What We'd Improve: Steering response and a small increase in wet and dry grip
* Conclusion: An Extreme Performance Summer tire you can live with every day
* Latest Test Rank: 1st
* Previous Test Rank: 1st (May 2006)
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 (Extreme Performance Summer 225/45R17)
* What We Liked: Excellent wet traction, great dry handling and reasonable road manners
* What We'd Improve: A small improvement in ultimate dry grip
* Conclusion: A well-balanced Extreme Performance Summer tire for the street or track days/autocross
* Latest Test Rank: 2nd
* Previous Test Rank: Not previously tested
Now the nitty gritty...I read all the reviews on tire rack on the two tires and it's understood that the both of them are better wet/dry/DD over the Falken Azenis, Kumho's & Kooks RS2's.
This was the opinion of an Auto X RSX Driver:-
Over the past 2.5 years I have gone through 4 sets of tires (3 Falken Azenis 615s and 1 set Brigestone RE01R) I run 15-20 AutoX/Track events combined a year. Dunlop has got a clear winner on their hands with the Z1. I thought that a tire could not get any better than the RE01R, but Dunlop has done it. The Z1 has proven to be faster on my car than the RE01R. During a recent AutoX it yielded .5 sec quicket laps. The Z1 is very responsive and predictable even at the limits of adhesion. Yesterday at a high speed event (speed trial) the tire exhibited the same predictability and grip levels at much higher speeds. As for tire wear, I really cant speak to that since they are so new, but wear was very even across the tire with 6 runs.
The Stone's within tenths placed 1st overall over the Z1's, only because of ride and noise comfort on real world road ride...in all the other performance/handling wet & dry test Z1's won out!
Now there's the pricing Stones $106 Vs Z1's $84...The question is, are the Stones worth the extra $84 a set? Whose the HT overall winner
I'm swaying heavily towards the Z1's...Could it be because of the price difference it's a marketing ploy hence Tire Rack rated them second to the top selling Stones? To me it doesn't add up!!! We all know everyones gone on the RE-01R's...the Z1's are the new boys on the block who could show the stones a thing or two...
All positive or negative comments are welcome

Also to be noted, Extreme Performance Summer Tires are for people who want extreme dry street performance and are willing to trade some comfort, tread wear and hydroplaning resistance to get it....
The Stones perform yes...but you have to pay a premium for the ride comfort whilst wet handling
The Z1's perform as good if not better, are cheaper, sacrifice ride comfort and road noise whilst having better dry and most importantly wet handling over the Stones...
Isn't the choice obvious?

Thanks for clarifying that, and looking beyond the simple overall score.

They sound great. I'm looking forward to whenever I might get a chance to drive on them. If I were buying tires today and looking for a supersticky dual-purpose tire, sounds like a top pick.
