Default Engine Flooded, 92 Accord

Hi,

My engine flooded while I was driving the other night.
It would not start after it stalled.

Shop says it needs a tune up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil wire) and this caused the problem.
That doesn't sound right to me. Could the above cause the engine to flood, stall out and not start?

Car now runs and idles smooth without changing anything.

Also, if the car does get flooded what is the best way to get it started again?

Thanks,
Scott

On that model, if you are cranking the engine with the gas pedal held to the floor, the computer reads the TPS at WOT and will shut off the injectors. Also with the throttle wide open you are pulling thru the maximum amount of air.
It might be worth the effort to pull the vacum line off the Pressure Regulator to see if gas is seeping thru the diaphram.
Lots of things could cause the engine to stall when running, but usually when the engine is running the poor spark plugs will not cause it to stall.
When you were trying to restart the engine, do you know for sure you were getting spark?

Not sure if it was getting spark or not. I have been having intermittent stalling problems (but this is the first time on a very short trip).
Maybe the wires, cap and rotor are part of the problem but I don't think they are the whole thing. Main Relay perhaps?

It sounds more and more like the dealer saw an older Accord and didn't want to or didn't know how to check for the right things, so just gave a laundry list of things that were wrong with it.

They even recommended a Power Steering Flush and Brake Flush when its easy to see that the brakes have been done recently and the powers steering master and slave cylinders have also been replaced.

Thanks,
Scott
