How much should I sell my GSR for
Looking to sell my 97 GSR (It has a theft recovery salvage title, but nothing was missing when I bought the car, just the paint was all keyed up, most likely insurance scam as the car was found with the keys in it)
Gots 85k miles
AEM V2 intake
Edelbrock header
Kteller 2.5" Exhaust
Action Clutch/ACT Flywheel
LS Crank/Rods, ITR pistons
ARP Head/Rod bolts
Supertech Flat Faced Valves and Springs
Prothane Motor Mount Inserts, ES torque strut mount Inserts
Stock suspension
Clean Leather Interior
What is a reasonable asking price? I was thinking $2800-3000.

I was thinking $3500-3800, but some people around here were saying that's too much cause the stolen salvage title. But then my other buddy who works at an insurance company told me that the salvage title won't even show up if it is sold to someone out of state.
Thats a fair price. Unfortunatly most people are afraid to buy a car with a theft salvage title, most insurance companies will not cover theft on car that has already been stolen and being that you own the most stolen car in world that kinda sucks! Good luck with the sale!!
Yeah i hear that, my auto insurance for my 97 and 98 GSR's is more than my Dad's 5 Trucks combined and they are all under his name. The comprehensive insurance on my GSR's alone are 40/month per car, whereas my dad's trucks are about 60/month for all 5 trucks since dodge trucks aren't as likely to get stolen or vandalized as much as an Integra GSR.

$40 a month? Damn, you got off easy. Mines almost 200 a month for a freakin ls.

Comprehensive only is 40/month, liability and collision is extra, im paying almost 120/month per GSR and that's cause they are under my dad's name, under mine would be over 200/month as well.
Central Cali, where are you located? It would be great for a track or drag car, I use my 98 GSR for the weekend and drag.
since i like you i'll give you a serious response
i think $3000 is more than a steal for the buyer BUT this hinges on actually seeing the car, as of right now all we have to go on is how you described it...as the seller i'd set it at 3500 obo
post pics! i'd buy it in a heartbeat for $3000 if it was decent shape, i don't know why people let theft recovery/ rebuilt / salvage titles scare them away, unless it was a horrible accident or flood damage

Yeah, i was thinking of asking like $3800 but would let it go for $3500 if someone offered that, but like i said, the car was a stolen salvage but most likely an insurance scam, it had a really nice candy paint job and fiberglass body kit. When the car was found/recovered, the paint was all keyed up, nothing was stolen. After I bought the car from the auction, all I did was replace the fiberglass body kit with oem style bumpers and a type r lip and repainted the car, now it has some scratches here and there but no rust anywhere.

Theft recoveries tend to have wiring/electrical problems, but these usually get the salvage title from the random damage done to the car during it's joyride/off-roading.
Accident/salvage cars will often have tire wear issues (can't be aligned), leak water and drive like crap in general.

Thats the thing, i was so surprised what good shape this car was in when i bought it, the car was recovered with the keys in it, so no broken windows, forced door lock, damaged ignition or steering column, I literally only repainted the car and it was good as new.

why are you telling me this? i know how it works....i jumped through hoops with a theft recovered vehicle w/ a salvage title to get the rebuilt title... the person making the purchase should gauge the damage on an individual basis

They may know something you don't, because a paint job should not total a car. I wonder if you could call up the insurance company and find out why it was totaled.
It could very well be 100% cherry, but I am the skeptic as I've been ripped on a couple salvage titles.
Still 3K seems like a damn good deal, salvage or not.

Sorry, I didn't detect any of your usual sarcasm in that post.

Im thinking the insurance didn't wan't to pay for repairs cause the body kit was damaged and the custom candy paint job was really nice. Full candy paint, jams and under the hood. The paint job alone could have eaily cost 5k with the kit and body work, the side skirts are also molded into the body.

That would do it. Just a paint job didn't sound right to me. You could probably get more than 3K. Good luck.

I paid $3000 for a car just like you are looking at. No frame damage, just a rebuilt title due to both air bags poping from joy riders, all the glass was replaced too. With your mods and if the car is pretty clean i'd start at $4000 and see what you get for offers. In oregon most GSR's sell for $5000 or so, i had to go out of state to get the deal i did.
just split the difference and go for 3250.00. you can get that all day long round here. i wont tell you what i pay for insurance cuz it would **** you guys off but theft isnt a problem in this area thank god!!
