Default Transmission damage possible?

As some of you may know, my shifter cable is broken, most likely due to the cable bushings. I used to not only be able to go into reverse, but after a quick trip to the food store, I noticed now all the bottom gears will not go in at all. So not only can I not go into reverse, but now I can't go into 2nd, 4th, and 6th gear. I need to still drive my car, so how bad is it to be only driving in 3 gears with my car. What's the damage (if any) in the long run for my transmission?

as long as it engages all the wy there shouldn't be any problem to your trans, but u will shorten the life of ur engine because you are running it at a high speed

Well, in fifth gear, the rpms seem to be at or a tiny bit over 3rpms with 50 mph. So it's basically driving on the highway with 6th gear. So, under that circumstance, it's still shortening the life of the engine?

How long will you be driving the car like this? 1 Week, 1 month, 1 year?

I wouldnt go driving 75mph on the highway, but driving around town as little as possible should be fine.

However long it takes the dealership to get the new shifter cables in. I'm hoping it will come in this week. I hate driving like this.

Yeah, but luckily, the dealership is going to cover it under warranty. I lucked out on that one.

No, they knew it was because of "different clips"

They said that the manager is gonna do me a one time favor and cover it under warranty. Maybe they felt bad because I waited 4 hours before they even served me, even though I had an appointment. Whatever the case was, I'm just happy that they are doing it under warranty.
