i have an '89 civic lx with a jdm b16 first gen

anyone know what the recommended idle should be?

also, my engine check light randomly turns on.. i had to replace my alternator a few months ago, after it was replaced the engine check light didn't go on for a long time.. a few months later, it goes on all the time.. there seems to be nothing wrong with the engine.. does anyone know what the problem could be? i also converted my stock air intake to the aem hybrid intake system, the mechanic said he had to drill a hole in the main hose to connect a smaller hose that went to an o2 sensor, could the engine check light have anything to do with the intake system?

i'm also looking for a short throw shifter but i can't decide whether to get the dc sports one or the b&m, anyone have any suggestions?

Mine idles at about 850rpm, thats a B16a1

 

Your Check Engine Light ? :

Have you bothered to check the codes? Have you reset the ECU, and see if any new codes come up. These would be my first suggestions to start to looking.

 

I have the AEM hybrid intake system as well and im throwing a code 9 which is the cylinder positioning sensor. I dont think the intake is going to throw a code for you. one day when i actually get a new dizzy i will let you know if my intake gives me any problems.
