Default 1987 CRX d15a2 starting problems when warm

so my friend has a 1987 CRX and he came over a few days ago and when he got here his car died. and ever since then, every moarning we can start it up, it runs for a while, and then it dies. and it wont start back up until it is totally cooled down. it has the d15a2 motor in it so its carb. my question is: does this have a manual or electronic fuel pump? if electronic, could this problem be from the main relay? if manual, what could be causing this? because it is always getting spark, just when warm, theres no fuel. someone said it could be from the electronic choke? not sure though. PLEASE HELP!!

It has a mechanical fuel pump on the head near the distributor, and an electric choke on the passenger side of the carb. Runs good cold but stalls and won't restart when warm, eh? I think the most likely cause is that something is making it lean out, but when the choke is still on it makes it just rich enough that it'll still run.

There are MANY things which could cause this:

a vacuum leak in one of the thousand or so vacuum hoses. FIRST... look for an obviously loose hose, you might get lucky. The next place I would look is to read the vacuum hose diagram on the underside of the hood (learn to LOVE this diagram) and hunt down the hoses that go to the thermovalves on the intake manifold. It sounds like when one of them opens it is letting a leaky vacuum hose lean out your mixture and kill the engine.

a piece of debris or fuel crud in one of the carb jets. It's best to rule out everything else first because opening and rebuilding a CVCC carb is not for the timid or weak of heart. You have been warned. It's doable, but not easy.

Question: does it start but just not stay running, or will it not start at all? How about if you pump the gas pedal a few times before you try and start it? Will it not start even if you spray a shot of starting fluid in the carb? Try starting it with someone manually holding the choke closed. Let me know how it goes. I'll think about it and type more later. Good luck.
