Today I rewired a 2 wire IACV (in place of the 3 wire) to the harness of my H22A euro R as shown on Honda-tech. Now there is no cel (14), and the car idles perfect, but another weird issue has developed. The car gurgles at low rpms which is amplified by the aem cold air intake. It only gurgles if the IACV is plugged in, so does anyone have a take on that? It is quite loud. It does not seem to hurt anything at all, idle or performance wise, but it is obnoxious to say the least. Also the engine seems to have a rattle (def. not a heatshield), which really worries me, and I can't pinpoint it. It does not seem internal, like bearings or anything, and all I can think of is the fact that the previous owner installed an auto to manual timing belt tensioner kit off the older H22a, and maybe he left something out. Has anyone had any experience with that sort of problem?
additional notes:
'97 accord SE with complete H22A euro r swap
chipped P72 running an H22a basemap
OBD2B to OBD1 jumper harness

Somebody help this guy out I am in for the solution
Are you using obd1 injectors or the Euro R?
Again I will throw this out there... I am not a wiring genius... but if using a obd1 ecu I think you will need OBD1 injectors? please correct me if i am wrong...
Euro R has a different injector angle...
With the Euro R swap we did... we had a little miss at around 3k rpm... still was there after the tunning on crome. We then adjusted the TPS and i believe the plugs we used were a lil hot so we switched them out, issue was solved.

I am not quite sure on the injectors. I am using the Euro R injectors right now, and like I said it runs fine and idles perfect, but it makes the most annoying sound of all time!!! I do know that a while back I used a complete Ls swap from an OBD2 integra, and then used the harness and everything from the OBD2 in a '94 hatch and then just used the OBD1 ecu and it performd perfectly. I am so confused about this noise though...Thanks fr the bump!
This noise been there since start up? listen to it real good and should be able to pinpoint where it's coming from...bottom end? head?
for a beginner when doing the manual tensioner swap it is a lil confusing... sometimes i believe people forget the crucial 12mm washer you may want to check to see if the 2 pulleys aren't touching each other they may be touching and that may be the noise you hear...

Yes and it was there when the 3 wire was used too! It is coming right from the air intake, and only when the IACV is connected. Weird?

See if you are gettin any leaks spray some chem tool around the area on the outside if it effects idle you have a leak... if not id think about swapping out IACV for another one...
got a vid!!!
check out this video of the noise i am a friend of the poster and made this vid for him

is your iacv on upside down? the connector is suppose to be pointing down and towards the passenger side with a coolant line pointing straight up. also, the adpater plate has 2 holes. the bigger side of the holes face the engine, while the smaller sides face the IACV...just had that problem with mine after installing my euro r.
this could very well my be problem....but my iacv will only mount in 2 ways.... the way i have it in the video.. and with both the connector and hoses pointing to the passenger side..
what iac are youi running.. because i still tried to change it but the nipples on the iac hit my tps..so i bent them (slightly) and installed it , what i got was the noise was gone but my car idled at 3k rpms and there was a wistling noise now...
i had adjusted the idle manualy so maybe the high idle and the wistling is a because the throttle plate is opened with the adjuster screw... idk but you may be on to something.. what iac and throttle body are you running b/c i am apparently running the wrong ones.
thanks alot i am thinking i can fix it now...

ok figured it out... i tried mounting the iac upside down to no avail.. it did not work made some more noises...i changed it out for a new one... nothing so finally i tore the adapter plate off and cleaned it up and to make sure it wasnot mounted w/ the big holes out ... well when installing i decided to try to mount IT the other way and put the iac on like that and whalla no more noise.. so make sure if using roscoes adapter it is on right side up.......
thanks johbar87 and CeeDUBYA
now its time for a street tune...
