Default well, car is out of comission for a little bit now. need possible diagnosis, searched

Civic EK GSR-T. I was driving to work today and was at ~2800 RPM when my car popped out of gear and instantly started making a heavy, loud and obnoxious grinding noise from my transmission. Car does not go into gear while driving. I can only switch gears when the car is off. When the car is off and the clutch is in and the trans. is in 1st gear, I can turn the car on and the car will idle perfectly fine. After I let my foot off the clutch, the car will remain at idle, even while in gear but the obnoxious grinding noise will commence as soon as I lift my foot from the clutch pedal. Car does not go anywhere in any gear. When I rev it all it does is grind like hell and the car stays exactly where it is.

Thinking input shaft or something seriously wrong with transmission internals. Clutch may be completely burnt as well. Not sure where to start, so I figured HT could help me out.

i would take your transmission off and check out the clutch/pressure plate.. something might be f-ed.

if something is damaged in the trans most of the time you can buy a used one for the price it is to rebuild the old one if something is damaged, depending on what is messed up tho

Yeah I plan on rebuilding another tranny that I have sitting in my garage and putting that in for the spring time, as well as many, MANY other tidbits and touch-ups that the car needs (stock crank pulley going back on, dump tube, axles, turbo manifold milled and flattened, new trans. mount, new muffler, new clutch, and now possibly a new transmission). This car was my daily driver, but its been nothing but an endless money pit, and I'm now inclined to just use this car as a track car and keep it garaged for the rest of the winter. I replace one thing and something else breaks, it just doesn't end... although the turbo setup has been very reliable and runs pisser since it has been done, I knew this transmission was on its way out the door.

I'm probably going to pick up a new Si or something for DD.

And I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the transmission blowing up was probably led on by the CTR N1 crank pulley that I have been using, even though the transmission was on its way out the door, the N1 pulley probably helped it to its way out.

So, that will be switched back to stock in the spring time as well.

Engine still sounds and runs healthy.
