I have a 1990 Civic DX which i am planning to rebuild. The engine has about 300,000 miles and smokes a little. The car is still driveable, but i'd like to go ahead and fix most everything in one swoop while the engine is out of the car for a clutch replacement.
As far as the engine is concerned, I am planing on replacing the valve seals, gaskets, pistons, and rings.

Any suggestions on other items i should replace (should i replace the valvestems, springs, etc...?)

Good plan, but items like the mechanical parts in the head you should be fine with. Anything that has the word "Pump" in its name, you should change though.
