Do I need a gasket between headers & Cat?
yes there is a small donut gasket that fits in there.

Yeah, imagine a metal disc, slightly tapered, about 21/4" in diameter, and made of some relativly soft metal so it will seal any gap between the header and the cat. I would imagine you could just go to a parts store & tell the clerk you need a doughnut gasket to seal up a leak between your header & the cat and they should be able to hook you right up. Takes all of ten minutes including jacking the car up to put in (once of course you figure out where the SOB is leaking--
on me!). Easy as pie!

No, you're looking for the donut...what you described are the gaskets in between the pieces of your exhaust.
I have one floating around somewhere...but I'm without a digital camera...if I find one i'll post it for you.

Yeah, it's slightly tapered to plug the tighter you tighten it down, costs all of $5 @ Advance Auto. I found out about that one after spending 5hrs. over the course of two days underneath my car to "find out WTF is that GD rattling noise
