factory keyless entry
dose any one know how to keep your factory keyless entry on a 98 EX after instaling a aftermarket radio with out putting the stock radio under the dash. iv searched and searched but cant find any thing. i need this because the person that owned the car befor me put a 4 door handle on the driver side so i have to crall threw the passenger side to un lock my car since i dont have keyless entry any more. I have kill switches and were i live in the country i dont need a alarm puly no one would want my pos lol
The brain/receiver for the factory keyless entry is within the stock radio. Remove it and it won't work anymore.
There is no way around it if you want factory keyless. The only thing to do it replace the factory parts with aftermarket or keep the stock radio.

Is it possible to retain the factory keyless entry while using a 94-01 Integra radio in a 97 LX? I understand that the receiver is integrated within the stock 97 LX radio, but do Integras have a similar feature that can be reprogrammed for the Civic remote?
thats wierd....i didnt know that....
when i bought my car, it had an aftermarket deck...it also had keyless entry with no alarm...then my deck got stolen...and i got a new one....keyless entry still works and i have had the whole bottom part of the dash and center console ripped off for my auto-standard swap and factory radio is nowhere in sight....

on your original deck, on the top is the 'security/keyless' module, just relocate that and remove your deck</TD></TR></TABLE>
On the '96-'98 Civics there is no separate box on top of the radio. The antenna for the keyless is attached to the back of the radio. The SECURITY box fits on top of the radio in the little dip.
'99-'00 keyless is separate from the radio. The same goes for the security box.

Well, there's a factory CD player slave that attaches to the stock radio. So you could do it that way. Otherwise you'll need the harness that allows you to connect your stock radio and your aftermarket CD player. Then you'd have to hide the stock radio in the dash. If you can, I'd recommend leaving the face plate on. If you remove the faceplate, with time it will become more difficult to reprogram the keyless (in the event that you'll need to - which you probably at some time will).

i got good news
and bad news
... well the bad news is you pretty much have to keep your stock radio but you dont have to have it exposed!!! You just have to be creative on where you put it. Pretty much the best place is just behind the dash or right BEHIND the cupholder. The good news is you could go to your local stereo shop ie: Car Toys..etc and get the harness to integrated in. Part # is 70-1720T. $20-$40 no so sure on the price. Its a Y adapter that plugs into your factory radio and into the car harness then to your aftermarket radio!!! i hope that helps...good day!!
