Got a 96-00 center console to fit my 92 Hatch Tell what you think...
I just went out and bought a 96-00 civic center console, and heard some people talking about putting it into a hatch, and i thought i give it a try. I got lucky since the center console only cost me 15 bucks from pick and pull. it was a 50% off today..lols..i would have posted up a diy since i saw alot of people asking if an EK's center console git eg's. I think it came out good for me, but it required patience, time, some cutting, and fitting. And just because i wanted i relocated my headunit to the bottom..lols what do you think sorry for low quality pics..would have gotten better pics but was in a hurry...

You're not the first, though I wish you were the last.
The lines don't flow well, the colors don't match, there's gaps where they meet, and it just looks too chunky for the car.

Damn thats sick I have always wondered if you could do that but tell me step by step how you did it I want to do this too because they have better cup holders than the eg ones lol.

My honest opinion, its definatley not the worst case of center console cross breeding. But, I do prefer the HOP center console for the 92-95 civic, mainly because, well, it was made for the car, which = no worries about having to "make" it fit and having gaps.
This particular car though (the OP's,) I wouldnt be putting my CD player ANYWHERE near a spot where there is a possibility of liquids spilling! In my opinion that is, its your cd player not mine...
To the OP, you definatley didnt do too bad of a job. Like said earlier, your not the first one to do this.
BUT, I dont recall coming across any DIY threads on this (not that I ever really inquired about one) so you could have a chance of being the first to make a DIY thread about this!

Alot of people also overlook the fact that you can get DIN sized cup holder's all over eBay, and also from other cars (american and japanese.) Ive got the HOP console in my 94 hatch, and have the cupholder that goes in the armrest compartment. But Ive had some cars that had some crappy drink holder locations, so I bought one off of eBay a few years ago and used it in different cars, works great.
Therefore, if you are against using the HOP center console because you dont want to loose your cup holders, try this setup:
HOP center console. Put your CD player in one of the DIN slots on the HOP console. Get a DIn sized cup holder off of eBay. Put the DIN sized cupholder in the DIN sopt under the climate control.
Wa-lah! You now have an HOP center console, with no gaps, looks like it was meant to be there, and you also have a cupholder in a very easy to reach location.

It does. But they're overseas only and have a pattern on the top that doesn't match any 5th gen in the US.

I was thinking about painted it black, but was too lazy, As for color not sure why it came out that color on the camera. I would have gotten the audio console, but whats the point, i wasent gonna spend about $150 and get rid of my cup holders or for that matter buy DIN ones. It may look jdm and a bit better, but im a guy who was on a budget. IMO i liked how it looks and the cup holder are way better than stock. as for liquids i tried putting many sizes of the fountain drinks and can sodas. everything fit snuggle and it was a good 1inch or 2 away, good thing about the EK cup holder it has two different sizes. I put the head unit on the bottom to defer theft, since i live in the place where people get their car stolen all the time, i thought to make the car look it doesn't have a head unit, so it would be eye candy to some wandering eyes..lols. and plus the cup holder has a lid, i can lift up the lid and the deck would be covered...thanks for all the input, ill try to send some diy for the people who wanted to do the same.
