intake tubing madeof fiberglass
not sure if this would be considerd fabrication but i maybe making some intake tubing out of fiberglass i dont have a welder so i cant make it out of alum just wanted to know if you guys think its safe to make it out of fiber glass i have seen them made out of carbon/kev but just wanted to get some opinions on fiber glass tubing
if any particles of the fiberglass get sucked in you will start scratching the cyl. walls or can cause a valve to get stuck open enough to cause issues. make sure that it's sealed very well inside.
what do you mean by sealed, i plan on doing a good couple layers so its nice and strong sanding it all down real smooth and panting the out side only
you will need to make sure you have a sealer of some sort that will cover the fibers inside the intake, you need to make sure it's flexible as well so it doesn't chip from hitting or vibration and get sucked in. y don't you buy just a cheap intake for now? i personally wouldn't make a fiberglass intake when you can get a cheap used one, or autozone even has cheap aluminum ones.
iam trying to make a DIY intake plus i have a MAF so i gotta work around that and iam not to crazy about that chrome pipeing they sell at autozone i will be doing some testing before i make it so i dont have problems down the road
i would definitely not do this on a newer civic with a maf, if the maf is not in the correct spot or airflow speed is changed drasticly your car will run like a##. it will mess with the way the car sees airflow into the engine and will probely set a maf code.

it should work, but imo i would still buy a decent intake. the risks and time isn't worth it. good luck on the project if you do it
