just bought a parts car.. want to get it running
I just bought an ex parts car.. and it was almost completely dissembled for some reason, but i want to get it running to see which motor i want. The car is still intact drivetrain while, but as far as i can tell the following are missing and i just want to know what the bare basics are that im going to need to get it to start and move.
The alternator and belt/ powersteering belts are off
no cap/rotor
the battery cables are all gone.. i think the starter cable is too.
the fusebox is removed..
what else am i looking at to get it replaced once all that is back in?
:edit: i just remembered the hood was off the car and no spark plug boots were in.. not sure if theres spark plugs in there or not though... what should i do if there aren't plugs before i turn it over.. drop some oil or wd 40 down?

i would pull the head, make sure there isnt water sitting in the bores, that would be a good way to bend a rod right away, also make sure that there isnt any rust, the rings need to be able to move around, if your plugs are in there than dont worry about it
id say the next thing would be to run a compression test on the motor, make sure its capable of running, if everything checks out start replacing parts that are missing and cross your fingers that nothing else is wrong
