I swapped an ECU from an auto to my 5 speed and it worked.
I don't see any reason it won't work the other way around.

im thinking its because it can't control the tcu.. wasn't sure though since the tcu is a seperate thing but i could be wrong.

like AccordEX1991, i have my auto obd1 POA ecu in my 5spd converted 5th gen. works fine, no CELs.
if obd1 i think it will work, you are right the tcu is separate in obd1. if there was a tcu controller i think i would have a CEL from it missing.
