Heater Matrix
hiya i want to know how i can take out the heater matrix on my honda accord 1994.
the reason is that i get no heat. only cold air is blowing out.
i've changed the thermostat but still the same, i've even used some pressure wash to clean it out but no luck. still i get cold air...so i plan to chnage the heather matrix but have no clue where to start. please advise.
thanks.

have you checked the make sure the valve near the firewall (located on a heater hose and has a cable running to it) is moving when you turn the temp ****? I know on a friends 94 EX he wasn't getting cold air in the summer and that valve wasn't moving. So he manually reached down and switched it and he started blowing cold air. Maybe yours is stuck?
And by "heater matrix" are you referring to the heat core that is located under/behind the dashboard?

1) Chech the H2O valve at the firewall- cable connected? Need adjust? Corroded shut?
2) Check the cable connects at the mixing box under the dash-connected? adjusted?
3) Is the mix **** broken at the dash? On the spindle, or just "spinning"?
4) If this all fails, open the dash and check the plastic "mix-box" that opens/closes the ducts. Last year I replaced the firewall valve and the switchbox. or years I had been having problems with the "box".
1994's have BAD switchbox design-they "hang up" and kick cables loose/jam/the internal arms shear off. MANY fail after 10+ years. One of the few problems I ever had with the car since new! And MANY thanks to idiot "techs" who had installed security/etc with "open dash". A few screw "connects" had been sheered off, a true sign of "always in a hurry to get it done"! I had to replace with other fasteners, now the dash FINALLY aligns correctly and doesn't squeak.
None of this is easy to discuss in depth. GET A MANUAL. It will show how to trace everything I mentioned, step by step. You are checking 25+ parts/cables/connects here. Start with my notes and a manual-you will find the problem. Take the dash apart SLOW and CAREFUL to save all parts/connects from breakage, or it WONT go together again correctly. Wrenchy
