Default Accord engine into an Integra

A friend of mine has a '98 Integra GSR with a blown engine (was his son's). He would like to use this as a daily driver. He has access to an engine out of an '03 Accord with just 4,000 miles. Could this engine be used in this Integra? Thanks for any advice.

Is it a 4 cylinder 03' Accord? If it is then yes it is possible, but it would take more money to get it to work than it sounds like he wants to spend. I believe that the engine in the '03 Accord 4 cylinder is a k series engine (like the rsx, new crv's, etc.) If he got a great deal on the engine his best bet would be to sell it to someone who has the knowledge and resources to install it and get another b series engine like the integra already has. Good luck!

If he's gonna use it as a DD I would suggest just getting an LS motor so he can save some money. Plus he wouldn't have to deal with all the extra mods to get the accord motor in. What ever he decides, best of luck to him.

Yes it could be put into the Integra.

One word: TORQUE

It will not be as easy to do as a B-series would be.

an ls engine could be thrown in for a few hundred bucks. swapping to the accord will cost at least a few grand.

hi
sorry it took so long get going on this project. my friend decided not to replace the B18C1 motor that was in the car with an accord motor. instead he took the advise of the reply's in this forum and bought a B20B motor instead. when we pulled the B18C1 out and set it alongside the B20B we noticed that the B20B did not have a crank sensor wire and the B18C1 did. my question is what takes the place of this sensor on the B20B and how do i wire it up. i was told i could run the wire that was going to the sensor directly to the distributor. is this true?

Must be its a JDM B20B? There is a way to jump a wire near the ecu to trick the ecu into thinking it is seeing the crank sensor even though it is not hooked up. Let me see if I can find it. The other option is to run the JDM ecu if it is a manual, because that ecu will not be looking for that sensor. I'll get back to this! Bump for more help!

hi
thanks for the help with the crank sensor wireing.
i have another problem now. i am replacing a b18c1 motor in a 98 acura integra with a b20b motor because i was told it would be and easy swap. but the air intake on the b20b comes off the block and goes up. the intake on the b18c1 comes off the block and goes down. it was apparent that the hood would hit the intake on the b20b so i tried to switch the manifolds. when i went to bolt the manifold off the b18c1 onto the b20b it would not bolt up. what gives . i thought this motor was a common replacement.

You need an intake manifold off of an OBD2 ls (B18B). The one you have is fine if you are putting it into a CRV...but it is definitely too high for an integra! Basically everything from the B18B will bolt onto the B20, but not a lot from the B18c1 will work. I hope this helps! Good luck!

If you read, you will notice that he has decided not to install the K series engine.

The stock gsr manifold wont bolt up to the b20 head. Use an LS manifold and intake and it should clear.

No you can use your clutch and flywheel from the gsr. The only other thing I could see would be the harness...The JDM harness from the B20B will not work on the USDM car. Either get an ls harness, or just use the gsr harness and have some unused plugs (VTEC, secondary butterflies, etc.). Good luck...keep going!!!
