Default Bodyshop JDM front dilema

Well....

ran into a little problem, and I was hoping I could get some advice on what to do, if there is anything I could do.. I brought my car to a bodyshop after its accident. The adjuster from my insurance company came out and instructed the bodyshop it was at to put the car apart and put it on the frame lift so that the car could be thoroughly examined. Well, some time later, the bodyshop now has a check from the insurance company with our name on it, but .... they NOW tell me that they want a 25% markup on pricing for all of the aftermarket parts (ie. JDM front, HID retro). Sooooo... after hearing that I realized they wanted around $500-1000 over what the insurance was willing to pay. NO WAY. After thinking, i recently decided that i would tranfer my car to another local bodyshop. BUT, the shop that has it now wants money for taking the car apart and keeping it on their frame lift. If that is the case, i wont have enough to do this whole JDM front thing at another shop.

Please any advice on what to do would be great.

Jon

You cant afford the 500-1000 bucks for a JDM front? Why dont you try and get the parts on your own (may be cheaper than them marking it up)

You really only have 2 options that I can think of:

(1) Have the body shop fix the car with US OEM parts, i.e. stock front, etc... or

(2) Pay the extra $500-$1000, *which is worth it*, and get the JDM Front end.

You should concentrate on getting the frame fixed instead of a jdm front end. Some people actually get their frontends without messin up the R. Some integra owners pay 3-4k for a kit with there own money so you shouldn't complain about $500 bucks.

you gotta expect to pay $$ if you are going the oem HID route...
my estimate came out to show the US-front actually costing a lil more than the JDM-front, but the oem HID's bumped it another $700...
i hope you are getting the front from a shop like "ips" or "rand" then taking them to your body shop to put on...

i say it because unless i am reading wrong...his body shop is getting these parts for him and wants +25%??? or is it the labor they want to charge more for?
that does not sound good/fair...
he can buy it for no upcharge from a reputable parts company(i.e. IPS,RandD,and others)

because they are one of the few shops that provide you with the entire jdm front end, not just the bare minimums to put it on.

damian, give me a call, i can help.

you do have the right to take it to another shop, most shops don't upcharge on aftermarket (wouldn't consider jdm aftermarket, but you know what i mean) well atleast not the ones i have dealt with in the bay area, when i got my jdm front all i paid was $500 my deductable...
