Default having hard time shifting gears

I am the original owner of a 91 honda civic wagon 5sp w/ 340,000 miles. Just in the past few weeks, I have been having a hard time shifting my car when it is running. I first noticed this when I stopped to shift into reverse to back up and my gears made that grinding noise. Today while using it, I couldn't shift it into first gear so I stopped the car, turned off the engine, engaged the clutch, easily shifted into first gear then started the engine up and continued on my trip. I am even having a hard time shifting form first to second gear, its like I have to shove the stick shift in place. I am having the mechanic at Firestone drain the transmission fluid and put new fluid in it tomorrow. Are there any ideas as to what else needs fluid? or adjustment? and what kind of fluid is recommended? Any ideas to pass on to the mechanic ? I already changed my clutch last year. I am in Hawaii. Thank-you.

has your car been swapped from auto? and how low is your clutch pedal from the ground? the problem might not even be the fluid...
i had the same problem with my shifter when i got my car not too long ago. the clutch sat way too close to the floor and i would grind gears and reverse would barely go in..
looked at the clutch pedal and noticed that when they did the swap (i still have the auto cluster in... what retards haha) they didnt put all the bolts in. it was missing one and that was the key to a stock-feeling clutch and smooth shifting. found one to replace it and its heaven now

hey im in hawaii too lol. what up homes?

No, this car has always been 5 speed manual transmission. My clutch pedal behaves normal, and sits up from the floor by about 6 inches or so just like normal. Just the gears are not behaving well. Hey, thanks for your response.
